From the Pastor...

Grace and peace to you, FPC!

“Next to the Word of God,” said Martin Luther, “the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world.”

FPC is blessed with many talented musicians. This Sunday, we’ll hear both our Chancel Choir and our Handbells. And, in honor of Reformation Sunday, we’ll be singing Luther’s most famous hymn, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God,” so be ready to sing with vigor!

Stay after worship to play Bunco with us in Lambert Hall. I’m not sure what Luther would make of Bunco, though he wasn’t above playing all games (he helped make nine-pin bowling popular). But he approved of Christians enjoying each other’s fellowship, as we’ll be doing.

Speaking of fellowship: Tower Youth are going on a hayride this Sunday night. The Prayer Shawl knitting and crochet ministry meets this Tuesday, as it does each week. And if you might be interested in a men’s breakfast Bible study, let me know; some men of FPC are exploring possibilities, and would welcome your involvement.

In worship, in fellowship, and in service, God calls us to life together. As Luther also said, “To gather with God's people in united adoration of the Father is as necessary to the Christian life as prayer.”

See you on Sunday, and SDG (Solo Deo Gloria)!

Tower Youth is going on a hayride this Sunday, October 25, and there's extra room in the wagon! Join us at 6:15 p.m. for some fall fun, followed by cider and s'mores around a campfire. The cost is $10 per person, and children in 5th grade and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

For questions, please contact Cory Cehlar at youthgroupcory.fpcs@gmail.com.

Bowling Fun! 🎳

Tower Youth enjoyed a fun evening of bowling with other Delco youth groups last Sunday evening. A special congratulations to Aria Duncan, who won the costume contest!

LIFE CENTER MEAL DONATIONS

As part of our ongoing mission outreach, First Presby provides meals for Life Center four times throughout the year. Our next delivery is scheduled for Friday, October 30, and we need your help! We are asking for donations of meatloaf and mac and cheese to help complete the meal. Food donations should be dropped off at the church at 5:30 p.m. on October 30.

Please click here to sign up to donate or contact John Reed for more information.

Thank you for your generosity and continued support of this important ministry!

Help Keep Coffee Cove Brewing!

Coffee Cove is a wonderful time to catch up, connect, and enjoy fellowship with our First Presby family. To keep this special Sunday tradition going, we’re looking for hosts for the coming months.

October Mission of the Month

The October Mission of the Month is our First Presby Deacons. Through their ministry of care and compassion, our Deacons support members of our church family in many ways, including delivering flowers, providing transportation, and organizing luncheons, dinners, and blood drives.

Another important part of the Deacons’ ministry is providing financial assistance to members of our church family and others in the local community who may be experiencing a time of need. This assistance is made possible through the generous support of our congregation.

During October, we invite you to support the Deacons with your gifts as they continue this important ministry of caring for those within our church family and our community.

Please keep these members and friends in your prayers:

Anne Branton, Ed Clapper and those who loved Felicia, Lisa Neff, Aletha Sciubba, Rose Marie Sharkey, Sue Ulmer, Brian Granatta (brother-in-law of the Reeds), Ralph Wike (Kathy’s brother).

You may use the Offering Prayer pew cards to add someone to the prayer list for four weeks, with the option to renew.

We implore those who fall into higher-risk categories to not take unnecessary risks. Please let us help.
