Greetings!

Get ready for 2021 with this reflection exercise.

The end of the year is a valuable time to look back and assess our progress and challenges. What worked? What didn't work? What can we be proud of?

Find a quiet moment and a sunny corner to work through this reflection exercise. You can also use these questions to structure a family conversation.

  • Looking back on 2020:

  • Spend some time journaling a response as if we were in a room together: Tell me all about 2020. How did all of this impact you?

  • Name an accomplishment or positive event that happened each month. (Without this structure, you'll blot out the toughest months and only focus on recent events.)

  • What were your goals for 2020? Did you reach them? If not, did you take any steps to get closer to your goal? How did those work? (Be honest with yourself.)

  • What were your personal challenges this year? How did you handle them? What did you do for self care? Did it work?

  • Did you make a positive impact on another person's life? What was it? Describe the impact.

  • How is your support system? Does it need maintenance? i.e. do the people in your support system need help themselves? What can you offer?

  • Looking forward to 2021:

  • What are your personal goals for 2021?

  • What are your professional goals?

  • Are these goal new? (If not, what's your new game plan to achieving them?)

  • How will you measure your progress?

  • Who will hold you accountable?
