LEAP! Newsletter - March 2023 - PRME Working Group on Sustainability Mindset

What's New?

Thanks to Nisa Vinodkumar for sharing this resource - Read more below.

Dear LEAPers,

We are in the third month of the year, and there are new sounds in the air. It's not (just) songbirds anticipating Spring in the Northern hemisphere. What I've been hearing are words like sustainability leadership skills, change from inside, paradigm shift, consciousness. I think that the new ESG regulations in some countries are pushing us ahead, even those in countries where there aren't (yet) any regulations, because in a globalized world we all compete in many markets. I also am hearing questions like "What do we need to do, to know, to respond to these new landscapes? Training courses on Sustainability and SDGs, workshops and apps are multiplying. Buckle up: We are driving in fifth gear! And this is just the beginning of major shifts to be seen.

As change accelerators, enjoy the times!

And enjoy the reading!

On behalf of China Academic Committee for Responsible Management Education (CACRME), I would like to share our event information and invite you to participate in our meeting in May. At present, CACRME is a temporal alternative virtual entity for PRME Chapter China. Read more HERE.

From Orla Kelleher, Derby University, UK:

We are starting a new pilot. I am both programme leader and module leader for the first two modules (The Case for Sustainable & Ethical Business) and (Sustainable & Ethical Strategy). It is aimed at business leaders and designed to help them accelerate the embedding of responsible values into their organisation.  We are also using the SMI as a before and after diagnostic as we focus on both the inner work (mindset, values, behaviours) as well as the outer business transformation activities (strategy, leadership, sustainable operations & ethical marketing, finance and accounting, etc).

From Shirley Yeung, Gratia Christian College, Hong Kong:

I was shortlisted and invited to display my art related SDGs in Bangkok, United Nations Bldg - March 27 to 31 -

SMI NEWS

SMI in Bahasa- Indonesian!

Our colleague Wulandini Wulan approached us with a project funded by the Indonesian government, to train teachers of the country's Green Schools. She decided that the Sustainability Mindset indicator could provide a personal and professional development opportunity. With her support, the SMI was translated into Indonesian, and is ready to be used there now!

Take the 5 min DEMO here!

A student's voice: "It was good to read the suggestions after every section, as it mentions ideas or attitudes I never thought about, but they would be easy to incorporate into my habits. I read the whole report more than once already as I try to learn from my weaknesses and take the advice and suggestions from the report."

****

Are you a graduate of the Fast Track or the Action LAB? You are ready for the 4 hrs. Certificate for Educators to administer and use the SMI with students.
