A message from Steve LaMontia-Carlentini, MSBL Director of Communications
Many of you have been around the World Series landscape for a very long time and remember when the 'Daily News' was delivered to motels in stacks, as there wasn't a website or mass mailings through the internet.
As a player, the first thing I did in the morning was rush to the counter to see who won, run differentials, check standings, and see all the scores.
Things have certainly changed, but one thing remains constant: Tom Prendergast. Tom is our tournament director, which in itself can make you gray overnight, but he has been the architect and editor of the 'Daily News' for a few decades and puts every item in there, in military order, while simultaneously running a 300-team tournament.
Not many people know that Tom is up into the wee hours every night, ensuring that you all know exactly what is going on when you wake up. We would be lost without the 'Daily News,' and it's time that Tom got some well-deserved recognition for single-handedly assembling this little beauty. He certainly doesn't have the time to do this, but fortunately for all of us, he makes the time.
Thank you, Tom. Your hard work is greatly appreciated!
