Member Benefit - Finding other recorder players

The ARS wants to help you connect to other players in your area. ARS members can use our Member Directory* to help find individual players, chapters, consorts, and recorder orchestras that are active in your area. Start making music together with your new recorder-playing best friends! Don't forget to connect to players on our ARS Facebook page, too.

*You must sign in to the ARS website to access the member directory.

Eva Legêne is Professor Emerita at Indiana University with vast early music experience in recorder and flute. This conversation with traverso professional/educator Teddie Hwang may be of interest to recorder players. (Note, due to copyright, some music clips may not work.)

Music for the Theater: "The man that hath no music in himself, nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils;” - Shakespeare. English Renaissance theaters were filled with music, both within the plays and between the acts. Step into a world of theatricality that is at times playful, satirical, and even sublime. With selections that blur the lines between the stage and the salon, we’ll explore music that entertained the masses from Henry VIII, Byrd, Morley, Adson, Johnson, and others.
