Why Healthy Boundaries Feel So Hard and Why They Matter

We often hear that healthy boundaries help prevent burnout and compassion fatigue. And it’s true! Clear limits protect our energy, strengthen relationships, and support our wellbeing. So why is practicing them so difficult?

Many of us hesitate to set boundaries because we worry about disappointing others or being seen as unkind, selfish, or difficult. On the other hand, when we finally try to protect our time and energy, we may swing too far in the opposite direction, becoming rigid and shutting people or opportunities out of our lives.

For many adults, this struggle makes sense. Healthy boundaries are rarely something we were explicitly taught as children. Without models or language for what boundaries look and sound like, it can be challenging to find the balance between caring for others and caring for ourselves.

To support these conversations, we’ve created two new tools designed to help adults, teens, and children understand and practice healthy boundaries in everyday life.

Please download the tools below and let us know what you think. We’d love your feedback.
