As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we encourage all families to help us finish strong by prioritizing positive attendance. That means being present and on time each day. Every school day counts, and arriving on time sets the tone for a successful day of learning.
It's important for all our HVS students to Show Up to Thrive because Every Day Matters. Showing up is more than just being present—it’s about thriving academically, socially, and emotionally.
Let’s work together to support our students in making the most of these final weeks. Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to student success.
Warm regards,
Dr. Susan Wildes
Superintendent of Schools, Hermosa Beach City School District

I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable spring break! We're excited to have our students back and ready for the final stretch of the school year. There’s so much growth and learning still to come, and we’re looking forward to a strong finish together. Thank you for your continued support!
When school returns on Tuesday, April 22, it's Earth Day! It's a great time to reflect on the importance of taking care of our planet. Whether it’s turning off lights when not in use, picking up litter, or talking about ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle, even small conversations at home can make a big impact. Let’s continue to encourage our students to be thoughtful stewards of the Earth every day!
Kind regards,
Sandy Skora, Hermosa View Interim Principal

Welcome back! I hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable Spring Break. As we return to campus for the final eight weeks of school, I’m excited for all that’s ahead and grateful to partner with you in supporting our students.
Right before the break, we held a wonderful event on April 9, the Hermosa Schools Book Swap. A big thank you to Vista Librarian Ms. Meyers and the Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library (HBFoL) for hosting such an amazing opportunity for our school community. Students and families brought in nearly 20 book donations, coming together to support and promote literacy, sustainability, and the joy of reading. It was a fantastic way to celebrate National Library Week and Earth Month!
If you haven’t visited yet, I encourage you to stop by the HBofL, located behind the Community Center at 701 11th Place in Hermosa Beach. They’re open Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM and Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 PM. Who knows, you might find some hidden treasures!
Warmly,
Hillary Overbeck, Hermosa Vista Principal

Middle School Career Day - Volunteer Opportunity
We will be having our annual Middle School Career Day on Thursday, May 29, from 8:45 to 11:05 AM. This event offers students a valuable opportunity to explore the wide range of professions available to them. Hearing directly from working professionals helps students make real-world connections between their learning and future possibilities. It can also spark new interests, inspire goals, and broaden their understanding of what’s possible. Exposure to diverse careers early on empowers students to dream big and begin thinking about the paths they may want to pursue.
If you or someone you know is interested in participating in our 2025 Middle School Career Day, please volunteer to sign up today!
Warmly,
Jessica Bledsoe, Hermosa Valley Principal
