We are expecting more snow this week. Please make sure to move your cars as appropriate so that Village crews can remove the snow safely and quickly. For assistance and information, please contact the police department.
Another great reason to live and work in the Village: for the first time, the Village of Ossining has earned the honor of being named a Tree City! This is a recognition that requires communities to share information about their tree maintenance budgets, their “tree board” (which in our case is the EAC), and events during which the planting of trees or community education about native tree species play a leading role. It certainly helps that we have the largest Earth Day in Westchester County! We will continue to make application each December.
The Trustees and I spent Saturday morning on Zoom in a public engagement forum regarding the DPW site. There were some really important questions asked, as well as feedback from experts and residents about how we plan to be environmentally mindful of the property as we move forward to create more housing. This was the third installment in the series, and the fourth session will take place on February 25th-- this next installment is titled "Dark Matter" and our discussion will be centered around brownfield remediation. In industrial communities along the Hudson River, this issue is of great concern and I invite the public to join the conversation.
