Dear
In our endeavor to improve communications between branches, as well as communications between branches and the national section, we encourage each branch to pick a member to be a "branch liaison," as well as another member to be a "branch contact." Chris Wilbeck, our administrator, will be emailing a form requesting information from you about your branch, including information about you, the contact, as well as who is your branch liaison. So there is no confusion between who is a "branch contact" and who is a "branch liaison," I will clarify the roles below. Being a "branch contact" means that you might get emails or possibly phone calls from individuals who want to contact the branch. Those contacts could be WILPFers moving into town, new members who want to join your branch, other branches wanting to do a collaborative event, or inquiries from someone at the national level with questions for or about the branch. You're a contact person! Whereas, the "branch liaison" is someone who gets the emails on the branch listserv in order to receive and relay the info posted there. In other words, this is a listserv liaison, especially for last minute announcements. This liaison has the responsibility to relay or report to branch members useful information from the listserv, so the liaison should understand what is likely to be valuable to the branch. The liaison may possibly forward some listserv emails to branch members and may "post" to the listserv with branch announcements, other information or questions. To summarize, the "branch contact" is listed on
www.wilpfus.org
on the branch page
here
. These branch contacts do not get any kind of routine emails or announcements from WILPF US -- only occasional contacts or inquiries. The "branch liaison" gets all the emails sent to the branch listserv. They relay information to their branch based on their knowledge of branch interests. If there are changes to who is assigned to either role after we receive the initial information, branch leaders should contact the national office with those changes, as well as to add a branch member to the branch listserv.
Please watch for the upcoming email from Chris.
Since we're working to update our website with the latest branch information, it will help a lot if you can respond promptly. Also, please let me know now if there's been a change in who your branch contact is.
Thank you and kind regards,
Shilpa Pandey, Membership Development Chair -- WILPF US
