TIME TO REGISTER FOR THE PARISH RETREAT! | |
Join us for a weekend away in the Shenandoah Valley. From Friday afternoon through Sunday lunch, we'll eat together, wander outside, sing, talk, dance, and gather around the campfire.
There are adult choir rehearsals, prayer and worship with our clergy, and plenty of free time to use as you like. You might hike up to the cross, claim a rocking chair and read a book, play a board game, or find yourself in an impromptu group activity. Parishioners from St. John's, Waynesboro will be retreating at Shrine Mont the same weekend, and we're glad to be sharing the place with them. We have two large meeting rooms reserved, so there will be plenty of flexible meeting space. Childcare will be available Saturday morning and afternoon.
All are welcome! Families, newcomers, longtime parishioners, we’d love to spend the weekend with you. Financial support is available. Sign up with the QR code by July 1.
Have a skill you'd like to share? Yoga, a craft, something else entirely? Reach out to Kristin Reichert at reedsong2012@gmail.com.

A GOOD WEDNESDAY TO BE NEW

| | TRINITY AT THE FOUNDING AND ON THE FOURTH | |
This year the nation turns 250 and Trinity turns 280, and the two stories have been intertwined from the start. We're marking the Fourth with a weekend of worship, music, history, and ice cream!
Last year, Trinity received a $516,000 grant from the Virginia 250 Preservation Fund. The grant asked the parish to raise $345,000 in matching funds, but Trinity decided to meet the state's generosity with its own and set a goal of $516,000, dollar for dollar. Through the Generation to Generation campaign, the congregation responded with characteristic generosity, going further still. Pledges reached $842,017, well past even that raised bar, and $594,634 has already been fulfilled. The result is a year of significant restoration across Trinity's historic site: brick walls and fences repaired, the church tower freshened, an accessible bathroom added, new drainage installed, and more still underway.
The celebration begins on Friday evening with a Eucharist of Celebration and Thanksgiving for Our Nation, and continues Saturday afternoon as Gen Bolena takes to the organ for an Independence Day concert of Sousa and patriotic favorites. Sunday brings a morning talk from Bill Frazier and Tom Howell on Trinity's place in the founding era, from the 1763 church foundation to the Augusta Resolves of 1775 to the 1781 General Assembly meeting held here at Augusta Parish, and after the 10:30 am service, ends sweetly with the Sundae Sunday Ice Cream Social on the lawn.
All weekend, the grounds will wear the occasion. Festive bunting will line the fences and the site of the original foundation, the DAR will place colonial flags on the graves of Revolutionary soldiers in the churchyard as they do every Fourth, and patriotic music will ring from the carillon across the holiday. The church will be open daily with extended hours, with a docent on hand over the weekend for tours.
