July 2025 Connections
Information for caregivers to help children thrive!
| | Welcoming DFX CEO Beth Yohe | | As part of a long-planned leadership transition, the DFX Board of Directors undertook an extensive search during the first half of 2025 to identify a nonprofit executive with the skills and experience to lead the organization to the next level. We are thrilled to welcome Beth Yohe, our new CEO, who joined the team this month. | | DFX co-founder and Executive Director Tracy Stackhouse, now Director of Innovation, will now focus fully on mentoring, teaching, writing, research, and creating new resources and courses to share the principles of Therapy that Fits® with an ever-widening audience. | | Beth Yohe (she/her) is an accomplished nonprofit leader with over 25 years of experience in the sector, locally in Denver, CO, and nationally. The through line of Beth’s professional and volunteer roles has been commitment to inclusion, engaged belonging, equity and access. Therefore, she feels it is especially meaningful to step into the CEO role for Developmental FX and contribute alongside the dedicated staff to its transformational work empowering children and their families to thrive. | | Beth Yohe, Chief Executive Officer | | Prior to joining DFX, Beth served as the Executive Director of The Conflict Center in Denver, leading and collaborating to fulfill its mission to teach practical conflict transformation skills and restorative justice. She also has a background in fund development and anti-bias education, training, and facilitation. An active leader in Denver’s non-profit community, Beth is involved both locally and nationally on issues related to educational access, conflict transformation, and social justice. Beth currently serves as a faculty member for the Social Justice Training Institute. Previous service includes the Advisory Board for The Ad Council’s Love has No Labels campaign, Board President of the International Bullying Prevention Association, and Chair of the Mapleton Education Foundation. | | She received her Masters of Science from Colorado State University and her Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University. This year we will honor Randi J. Hagerman, MD, FAAP, with the DFX HUG (Heart, Understanding, and Generosity) award for her outstanding commitment to improving the lives of those with neurodevelopmental differences.
Dr. Hagerman is known worldwide for her work on Fragile X syndrome and is a long-time mentor and colleague to Tracy Stackhouse and Dr. Nicole Tartaglia, our 2024 DFX HUG honoree.
| | | Exciting news in the Fragile X space: Dr. Randi Hagerman and Dr. Paul Hagerman, both researchers at the UC Davis MIND Institute, authored a paper, The Spectrum of Fragile X Disorders, just published in the New England Journal of Medicine, calling on physicians to consistently screen for Fragile X when evaluating a patient who has a diagnosis of intellectual disability and/or autism. Congratulations to the Hagermans for sharing their critical research with a global audience and raising awareness of Fragile X. | |
JULY IS FRAGILE X AWARENESS MONTH | | Fragile X is a prevalent genetic condition impacting development and DFX has had a specialized focus on Fragile X syndrome and working in the Fragile X community since our founding. | | DFX participated in World Fragile X Awareness Day on July 22, and the City and County of Denver supported this annual event by once again illuminating the City and County Building to help us raise awareness of Fragile X!
Thank you to FRAXA for coordinating this amazing effort! | | 557 LANDMARKS AROUND THE WORLD WERE ILLUMINATED ON JULY 22! | | A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR 2025 SOIREE SPONSORS!! | | DFX is working to create systemic change by establishing a culture of engaged belonging in which children of all abilities and backgrounds will thrive. | | | | |
