2022 Thanksgiving Food Distribution

GiveBack Saturday 11.19.22

Dear Family,

Since 1995, Project GiveBack has been making a difference in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. Over the years, our dedicated group of volunteers have been consistent in coordinating service events that touch the lives of those in need. Over a year into an unprecedented pandemic and the largest economic downturn in our lifetime, we are still committed to helping our low-income constituents as well as those who have fallen on hard times.

We are currently planning logistics for our 28th Annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution on November 19, 2022. Last year we were successful in coordinating a safe series of smaller distributions in line with DC, Maryland and Virginia's protocols. This year we are pleased to announce that we will be back at the DC Armory. We are finalizing logistics with our long-time sponsor EventsDC.

We plan to assist a minimum of 4,000 food baskets to underprivileged families in DC, Maryland and Virginia. In order to do that, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT. Over the past 27 years, individuals like you have made a difference in our community by supporting the efforts of Project GiveBack. In order to meet our goal, we are soliciting your financial support.

I am calling upon friends, family and total strangers to give generously to sponsor grocery baskets for families and individuals in need during the Thanksgiving Holiday season. This year, more than ever, we need you as we embark on one of the area's best community service projects. The pandemic, supply chain issues, and soaring gas prices have devastated several of our neighbors – some of whom were in challenging circumstances prior to these issues. We MUST react aggressively. I am asking you to sacrifice and find a way to make a difference in the lives of our friends and family in need. Your financial contribution not only provides support for a worthy cause; it also demonstrates your commitment to making a difference.

Sponsor Spotlight

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Alpha Omega Chapter celebrates 100 years of service and friendship by hosting the Centennial Celebration on 11.4.2022.

Project GiveBack was literally born in the basement of the Fraternity House at 1231 Harvard Street, NW Washington, DC. This was the location of the first Thanksgiving Food Distribution in 1995. Alpha Omega Chapter has been a Corporate Sponsor each year since our founding and has been a key source of volunteers over the years. They have been critical in manning the 5am unload shift as well as the food transportation committee. We salute the chapter's impact on our efforts and the community at large. The chapter Social Action and Scholarship committees have had tremendous positive affect on the citizens of Washington, DC. We look forward to celebrating 100 years on November 4th.
