SPOTLIGHT

Do Yourself A Favor!

We would like to make a Public Service Announcement to all incoming Fall TK–5th grade families… 🎉

HVPTO is happy to announce that we have once again partnered with 1st Day School Supplies for Fall Back-to-School Supply Kits—our 10th year collaborating to help families get the exact supplies needed without the hassle of shopping at Target, Office Depot, or Staples.

1st Day School Supplies is convenient, easy, and hassle-free! Prices are competitive, and as a bonus, $5 per kit goes back to HVPTO. While we love a fundraiser, our main objective is simple: this makes life SO MUCH easier (no hauling bags on the first day!).

So this summer, relax and enjoy your summer ☀️—and purchase your school supplies from the comfort of your home before this school year is even done.

Order now through the last day of school:

Memorial Day Fundraiser

The Memorial Day Parking Lot Fundraiser (May 23–25) is one of HVPTO’s biggest annual events, raising over $12,000 to support the programs that enrich our schools such as Lunch Clubs, PE and Band equipment, Staff Appreciation Week, and so much more. Unlike many fundraisers that rely on financial contributions, this one simply asks for two hours of your time. Whether or not you’ve been able to support HVPTO this year, this is a meaningful way to help keep these programs alive in the 2026–2027 school year.

Middle School students who volunteer with a parent earn 8 Service Points, but we truly need parents from all grade levels to help cover the full weekend. Each shift is just two hours, goes by quickly, and is a fun, easy way to get outside and support our schools.

SIGN UP TODAY and help us reach our $12,000 goal!

Honor Roll Breakfast - Help Needed!

Invitations went out to our 299 Middle School Honor Roll students and we will be celebrating them on May 28th!

We need help with volunteers to set up the day before (middle school points available!), help during the breakfast, and help with donating some food items. Please sign up HERE.

We are also in need of gift cards for the raffle - this is the highlight of the breakfast for the students! Gift cards from places the students like (i.e. Starbucks, Sephora, Dicks, Amazon, local restaurants and surf shops, etc) in any denomination. Or if easier, you can Venmo money toward gift cards that the Honor Roll Breakfast committee will purchase on your behalf. To coordinate Venmo or gift card drop off, please email Christine Shultz.

Staff Appreciation Thank You

Our 2026 Staff Appreciation Week was truly Seuss-tastic! Our staff felt the love floating up through the air, from our wonderful Hermosa families spreading joy everywhere!

HVPTO couldn't have pulled off this celebration without the support of our incredibly generous community, Room Parents & Parent Volunteers.

A huge THANK YOU to all the families that donated to Monday's Kick-Off Breakfast - what a delicious way to start the week! You spoiled our staff to the Seussian core!

Special thanks also goes to STAR Education for sponsoring our grand finale end of week Ranchos Tacos Lunch, HBEF for the Granny's breakfast sliders and our District Office for bringing the Cuppity Caffeine Cheer with a Coffee Cart for our staff.

A tip-top terrific thank-you to our Maintenance/Operations team—you went above and beyond to keep things running smoothly.

And finally, a truly truffula-sized thank-you to our incredibly dedicated Staff Appreciation Committee Chairs: Kari Anderson, Sandra Ciccone, Mia Pierantozzi, Jennifer Kucera and Jo Fish. Oh, the places our staff will go thanks to you! 💗
