This Week: Street Fair, Egg Hunt (rain date), Budget Season and more!

Mayor's Message

It’s Budget Season!

Lord Tennyson once wrote that “In the spring a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love.” Sadly, I am not a young man, so in spring my fancy turns to . . . the Nyack Budget!

Yes, this month is Budget month, as we deliberate and decide on the proposed budget for the 2026-27 year. To make it as transparent as possible, I've created a Google Drive Folder with a series of documents that might be helpful:

  • A Primer for the Nyack 2026-27 Budget that I wrote explaining the budget process, giving an overview of the budget, and reviewing some of the challenges for budgeting given our non-discretionary obligations.
  • An Excel version of the current budget proposal.
  • A PDF version of the current budget proposal.
  • A folder of graphs that I created (which are all in the Primer), including this one showing our expenditures for the proposed budget (below). I hope you find the Budget documents helpful. You can find them at www.nyack.link/budget27.

And if you’re interested, you should join us at our meetings this Thursday at 7PM and on Thursday, April 23rd, when we will be deliberating the Budget. Public comment opportunities will be available.

In the meantime, if you have questions about the Budget, feel free to email me at joerand@nyack.gov.

Have a great week!
