The 40 Days of Lent

The word "Lent" comes from an old English word for "lengthen," and refers to the lengthening of the anticipated days of spring. In this holy season, as we approach both the cross and the empty tomb, the church prepares itself with 40 days of renewal, repentance and faith, of broadening our hearts, deepening our understanding, and paying careful attention to

what matters most.
