The City has two Below Market Price (BMP) homes now available for sale through the City’s First Time Homebuyer Program. The townhomes are part of the new Hartford master-planned community in the Niles District in Fremont. Both homes are designated for moderate-income households. The homes are currently under construction and are scheduled to be completed and available between July and August 2024.

Interested homebuyers are required to submit a lottery application and participate in a lottery to be selected to purchase the Hartford BMP homes. Bay Area Affordable Homeownership Alliance (BAAHA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit housing organization, has been contracted by the project developer to manage the lottery application process for the Hartford BMP homes.

The Active Transportation Plan (ATP) Team has been working on developing program and project recommendations based on input provided during the Phase 1 and 2 Outreach, and is kicking off Phase 3 Outreach this May to receive input on the draft program and project recommendations.

The ATP team is hosting a virtual workshop on Wednesday, May 15th at 6 p.m. to share more about the Plan progress and to receive feedback on future walking and biking programs and projects. Register and receive the Zoom link here.

Not Too Late to Take the Age-Friendly Fremont Survey

In 2019, the City of Fremont established its first Age-Friendly Action Plan for 2020-2025. An Age-Friendly City is a livable city for everyone. Older adults should feel safe, healthy, and happy living in Fremont. Aging and Family Services is in the process of updating this plan for the next five years. One of the first steps is to survey the community about its feelings regarding what it’s like to age in Fremont and better understand the concerns and needs of older adults in the community. Take a ride to the Viansa Winery in Sonoma, located just 35 minutes north of San Francisco. Your visit to Viansa will include a wine tasting and a tour of the scenic vineyard. After your tasting, you will head east to Yountville to

gratuity, and wine tour/tasting. Lunch is on your own.

Our Homeless Services team hosts drop-in hours as a South County Housing Resource Center in the Fremont Family Resource Center. California Dream for All Program: The California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) launched another round of funding for the California Dream For All Shared Appreciation Loan Program, a down payment assistance program for first-time homebuyers to be used in conjunction with the Dream For All Conventional first mortgage for down payment and/or closing costs. Salaam Food Pantry in South Fremont holds monthly food distributions on the 4th Saturday of the month from 10 - 11:30 a.m., with lunch provided from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Salaam Food Pantry is located at the Islamic Center of Fremont at 4039 Irvington Avenue. Church sites have opened their lots overnight and provide fellowship through a welcoming space, clean portable bathrooms, and friendly volunteers. No RVs are permitted at this time.

Low-income Drivers can Save 50-75% on I-880 Express Lane Tolls: A new pilot program helps low-income travelers use the express lanes on I-880 between Milpitas and Oakland at a discounted rate. Bay Area residents can apply online or by using the paper application from the Fremont FRC. Income guidelines apply, and proof of income is required. Learn more.

Help on Tap customer assistance program provides qualifying single-family residential accounts a $63.75 credit on their bi-monthly water service charge. Credit will be applied upon approval of your application. Learn more.
