The Carols of Christmas: Stories and Singing

Scripture

It seems that the Christmas Season is too short and there is not enough time to sing some of our favorite Christmas Carols. Join us for one worship service only on Sunday, December 28 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary for The Carols of Christmas: Stories and Singing. On this Sunday we will hear the stories behind some of our favorite carols and then sing them together. Join us as we celebrate the birth of Christ during the Christmas Season.

Sunday, January 4 – Epiphany Brunch Church

One Morning Service Only | Plymouth Hall

Join the Magi and follow the star into a room where the Christ Child is found among friends and tables set with care. Our Epiphany celebration will unfold around a shared feast: frittatas fresh from the oven, bright bowls of fruit, and sweet cinnamon rolls. All ages will gather to pray and sing and tell the old story while breaking bread together. There will be children’s activities at the tables and nursery care is available. A few more volunteers are still needed to set up, prepare frittatas and fruit bowls, and clean up. Sign up here.

Advent and Christmas Thank You!

Thank you to all who gave Advent and Christmas their hands and voices, their time and care. To the musicians who carried the season in song. To the readers and liturgists who spoke ancient words anew. To the ushers and greeters who opened the door wide to welcome all. To those whose work was quiet and unseen, yet essential, stitching everything together. And thank you to all who came to worship week after week, bringing your presence and your prayers. Together, you made these holy days more than events. You made them a shared offering to God of light, hope, and praise.

SoulCollage Workshop

Sunday, 1/11, 11:45 a.m. | Plymouth Hall

Join Rev. Martie McMane to discover how simple images can open doors to wisdom and encouragement. SoulCollage® invites you to choose from hundreds of images, arrange them on a 5” x 8” mat board, and – with gentle guidance – “read” your card for the insight it carries. Created by therapist and Yale Divinity School graduate Seena Frost, SoulCollage® is rooted in Jungian psychology and the sense that images draw us toward healing. A light lunch will be served. Please register for this event to help us plan.

The Narrative Project

Reading Circles Forming Now

Two stories dominate American Christianity: one of decline, another of power yoked to nationalist extremism. The Narrative Project of The Christian Century magazine makes space for a truer telling – stories of faith that are alive, generous, and rooted in love. Our congregation has been selected to join churches nationwide in monthly reading circles beginning late January or early February. Together we will read, meet in small groups, and reflect on our faith. Participants receive a one-year subscription to The Christian Century. Interested in being part of a group?

Preparing the Ground: Conversations

Toward Nonviolent Change and Public Faith

3-Part Study Series | Tue, 1/6, 1/20, 2/3, 6:30-8:00 p.m. | Plymouth Hall

Before Dr. Erica Chenoweth, author of Civil Resistance, joins us on February 13–14 as our MacKenzie Lecturer, we’ll gather for three evenings of shared inquiry and moral imagination. Together we’ll explore Chenoweth’s groundbreaking research on nonviolent movements and the courage they require. How does change take root? What does faithful public action look like now? Readings, brief videos, and guided conversation will prepare the ground. Register to participate and receive reading assignments.

Still Becoming: An Advent Art Journey Revisited

If you missed the Advent Art Brunch series, the journey is still open. Led by artist Waverly Matthews, this imaginative exploration of art and spirit looks through the quiet mystery of a Renaissance nativity, inviting deeper seeing and wonder. The reflections are now available online at www.youtube.com/@wamaartasylum. We are grateful to the McMane Arts Ministry for making this rich and thoughtful offering possible.
