Part 1: The Poor People's Campaign
The ONE WILPF Call for May will include some last minute announcements and preparations for the kick off/launch of the POOR PEOPLE'S CAMPAIGN: A Call for Moral Revival. Forty Days of Action are being proposed with weekly themes and recommended action. Read more about it in the May ENews.

Members are being asked to plan actions and events at their state capitols on Monday, May 14th, or be present for the kickoff of the campaign at the Capitol in DC.
If you plan to be in DC and want to stand together as WILPF, contact us here.

Resources/Tools
There are some great ideas for action and organizing on the website of one of WILPF's allies, Popular Resistance. Check out their Toolkit. We'll have our own WILPF webpage up about the Poor People's Campaign soon!

Part 2: Inspiring Outreach
The ONE WILPF Call will also include a training for members on one of our most challenging fronts.
Thinking in New Directions about Recruiting:
A Leadership Training

Without enough active members, the few who are active are overburdened and over scheduled. And yet, almost every one of our branches tells us that they do not have in place a strategic plan for recruiting.

This means inevitable exhaustion among the branch leadership, and a resignation about what the branch can't take on. Capacity is a real problem. It threatens our branch survival and that is serious.

The Moment is Now
This is a time when women across America are increasingly looking for ways to get more involved in grassroots efforts to change the world.

Membership in a woman-led, woman-empowering, non-partisan grassroots organization that looks holistically at the roots of war and confronts the connections that support a war economy, environmental disasters, fossil fuel dependence, human and civil rights abuses, the war on women, and our national obsession with violence should be really attractive to women looking for a feminist perspective in movement work.

WILPF offers a long history of empowering women leaders on all these issues, and connecting them to peace women across the planet through our international programs and activism that combines the local and the global.   And we offer more than just a virtual organizing and action experience. We offer sisterhood and fellowship, an identity within the community, and support for women pursuing their individual passions in activism.

Why wouldn't WILPF appeal to women looking for ways to participate actively in system change?

What's been missing is our FOCUS on how to effectively PLAN for recruiting.
Let's spend some time together on this call looking for new ideas and new strategies for adding capacity and inspiring women to join us.
