Hello Da Vinci Connect Families,
What a week! We want to take a few moments to celebrate our community--in the past week, our students have presented to families and community members at Exhibition, AND many of our students performed in our first Winter Choir concert for over 1,500 audience members! The opportunity to engage in Performing Arts has been such a gift, especially in these moments of performance where every student can truly shine. Thank you to everyone who made it happen--our families, the Da Vinci and Wiseburn Staff and community, Our Performing Arts Coordinator, Alexi, and most of all--our student performers! Enjoy the photos below, and we can't wait to see what comes next for our Performing Arts Program.
Exhibition is such an important event to our community--giving students the opportunity to present their work and share their learning with a wider audience is such an important skill to practice. They need to share their mastery of content from memory, use professional presentation skills, interact with community members they may not know...the list goes on! We are so proud of every student for successfully completing their first Exhibition this school year! We also want to appreciate our parent community for engaging so thoughtfully as audience members in a wide variety of spaces. Finally, thank you to our staff for the tireless work in order to make events like this come to fruition! Well done, everyone!
We will be having our first Critical Incident Drill with students on Tuesday 12/19 and Thursday 12/21. The goal of these drills is to practice safety procedures in the unlikely event that something or someone poses a safety threat to our campus. Critical Incident Drills can feel scary--our priority is to practice these drills in a way that is minimally impactful to our students, which includes conversations prior to drills, and opportunities to re-anchor after drills with the School Safety Series from Inner Explorer, our mindfulness program. Our school is a safe place, and while these drills are more important than ever, it is the preventative practices (like prioritizing knowing our students and families well!) that will always be our focus. For a resource to help with talking about this at home, we recommend this article that can also be found with other amazing resources on Nydia's Counseling Website
