Decades after graduating, nursing alumni

keep strong ties to STCC

Gloria Wilson ’76 and Carol Caulton ’80 reflect on the STCC nursing program and its impact on their lives and careers. Their story is not just about personal achievement but also about the transformative power of education and the profound impact it can have on individuals and communities. It was at STCC that they found not only academic guidance but also a supportive community that believed in their potential.

Dr. Megas had nothing but praise for his assistants, Alyssa Diaz ’24 and Amina Maigari ‘24. Having earned Dental Assisting certificates in January, they took classes at STCC this spring and plan to start in the Dental Hygiene program in the fall.

“I’m very fortunate to have them,” Megas said from his West Springfield office. “They’re highly motivated. They came through the STCC Dental Assisting program with flying colors. They’re caring individuals, which we want for health care professionals.”

STCC a ‘steppingstone’ toward success for

community leader Jennifer McGrath

Jennifer McGrath ’06 is grateful for her family’s advice to go to college and proud to call herself an STCC alumna. McGrath moved to Agawam while in high school. She lived with her aunt, Barbara M. Schaedler, RLA (Registered Landscape Architect), who was an STCC professor and chair of the Landscape Design and Management program for 12 years. Thanks to a smart start at STCC, McGrath today is the Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement at MGM Springfield. She believes her life might have turned out differently if she didn’t choose STCC.

Former student returns to STCC to ‘pay it forward’

Some students might see a little bit of themselves in Charlie Rosario, a financial aid counselor at Springfield Technical Community College. Rosario graduated from STCC in 2016 but admits he had a rough start when he started at the college a few years earlier. He was the first in his family to pursue a degree and didn’t know what to expect when he stepped foot on campus in 2012. “I didn’t do that well, but I decided to come back in 2014,” he said. “I was basically an average student, but then I got involved in activities, which made a difference.”
