Prayer List

During these days filled with much uncertainty, fear, and sorrow, may we find comfort in these words from Romans 8:26,

" The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words...

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

This week we pray for:

Margaret Leafgren, mother of Lynne Hamrick
Prayers of comfort and healing for Lynne's mother, Margaret, 87, after her recent fall and through the recovery of fractures. Prayers of strength for Lynne and Larry in their love and care for her.

Mary Nicholls, mother-in-law of Pong Thiemmedh
Prayers of comfort to Pong and their family as they mourn the passing of Mary.

Iams family
Prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving as they remember the life of their grandson Tod, who passed away 2 years ago.

Linda, daughter of the Iams' neighbors
Prayers for strength and comfort as Linda prepares for a leg amputation.

Dave Noble
Prayers of praise and thanksgiving for a clear cancer scan, for excellent medical care and for the love and support from family and friends at Westminster and from the community.

Prayers of thanksgiving for members of the Congregation Care Committee who prepared and delivered the beautiful baskets filled with home-grown veggies, tokens of our love and care for our community.

We pray for all those affected by the fires on the West Coast and who are in the path of hurricanes and strong storms in the South and across the world: those who lost their lives, who lost their homes and livelihood.

Continued prayers for students at the College of Wooster and in all the schools in our community. We pray for safety and for a rich learning experience. We pray also for teachers and staff as they work hard to make this new school year safe and fun and meaningful.

Continued prayers for all of those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in this country and across the world. We pray for those who lost loved ones; those among us who cannot visit loved ones in nursing homes or hospitals; those who lost jobs; those whose livelihoods and safety is endangered.

During this election season, as we are overwhelmed with so much divisive rhetoric, we pray for wisdom and guidance so our faith community could show love and compassion in the face of hatred.

Prayer Request and Privacy Laws

Please note, that because of government privacy laws, hospitals and care centers no longer are allowed to notify churches that a person has been admitted (even if the person lists their home church at admission). The only way that the church staff will know if someone is hospitalized is if a family member or friend lets us know. We'd rather get 20 calls about the same person than none! Thanks for your help in making Westminster a caring community. Contact the Westminster Office by phone 330-263-2398 or email to notify the church if you or someone you know is hospitalized or otherwise in need of our prayers!
