VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR ELECTION

There is a primary election being held here at Messiah on Tuesday, November 3rd. We are looking for members to

volunteer a bit of their time either on Monday evening (November 2nd; someone with a key), early Tuesday morning (also someone with a key), or Tuesday afternoon or evening. The church's policy is that someone from Messiah must be present at all times while election workers are in the building. Please see the sign-up sheet in the office. Your help is greatly appreciated.

REFORMATION SERVICE

The upcoming Federation Reformation Service being held at Messiah (4 PM on October 25th), with a light dinner served after the service (approximately 5:15). I am looking for food donations for this dinner. Please let me know if you can help.

There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the Narthex, or you can text or email Cheri—if possible no later than October 1st. Suggestions would be: meatballs, little smokies or little hotdogs, small sandwiches, fruit or truit tray, veggie tray, rolls, baked casserole, mac & cheese, cheese tray, crackers, desserts, etc. (a few of the other churches have offered to help provide some food, so I’d like to be able to give them an idea of what they can provide, also by October 1st.)

Thank you, Cheri Herron  clherron1@gmail.com or 513-293-1595

FALL WORK DAY

We are planning a fall work day for November 7th. We have lots of projects that we would like to complete to make our building and grounds ready for the upcoming winter. “Many hands will make light work.” Please come and bring any gardening tools you may have (rakes, shovels trimmers, etc.). We will start at 9 AM. Coffee and donuts will be available beforehand. In case of rain, we will schedule the work day for November 14th. Watch the website and Facebook page for cancellation information.

NOVEMBER MUSIC AT MESSIAH

Music at Messiah for Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. will be Piano, Voice and Flute. Always an entertaining afternoon. Time for fellowship as well.

News for all of Messiah's youth - from birth to young adulthood.

Sunday School Summary, September 27th:

We had only little kids today to discuss the parable of the persistent widow (Luke 18:1-8). The kids accepted the challenge of jumping up and down for as long as they could. This helped them to understand that it is possible to get tired of doing something, even if it is something they really love to do. We talked about the persistent widow in Jesus's parable who got what she wanted not because of her status but because of her persistence.

Jesus wants us to pray with persistence because that shows we never get tired of turning to God. The kids all shared about a friend in their lives and why they like to be with that friend. God wants a relationship with each of us like we have with a good friend. To help visualize our persistence in prayer and relationship with God, the kids took home a calendar for the next 3 months. Besides having all of the church events on the calendar, the kids are encouraged to color each square/date that they remember to pray to God. They also enjoyed coloring an infinity sign to show God's never-ending presence and faithfulness.

Next week, we will all be outside for outdoor worship and a picnic. There is a very fun playground next to our picnic shelter!
