Construction Update

Exit 16 DDI

DATE: Wednesday, November 26, 2025

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Crews will be off the roadway by noon today, November 26, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Work will resume in the project area on Monday, December 1.

TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION: From Monday, December 1, through Friday, December 5, between 6 AM and 3 PM, U.S. Route 2/7 (U.S. 2/7) will have lane closures between Interstate 89 (I-89) and Rathe Road (the Park and Ride) for drainage work. In addition, from Wednesday through Friday, between 6 AM and 3 PM, intermittent blasting events will require U.S. 2/7 between Rathe Road and Hercules Drive and all intersecting sideroads to be shut down for approximately 10 minutes. To learn more about traffic impacts associated with blasting activities, click here.

In addition, independent utility companies are on-site conducting utility work along U.S. 2/7 throughout the project limits under lane closures.

Motorists should expect significant delays when traveling through the work zone and along adjacent roadways. Please plan ahead, leaving plenty of additional time to get to and from your destination. Whenever possible, consider alternate routes or other forms of transportation such as carpooling, ridesharing, transit, biking, or walking. Drivers should slow down, use caution, and follow flaggers and road signs.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Crews will continue drainage work along U.S. 2/7 between I-89 and Rathe Road (the Park and Ride). Independent utility work will take place along U.S. 2/7 throughout the project limits.

Crews remove material from previous blasting events along U.S. 2/7 near the I-89 Exit 16 northbound on-ramp.
