Strength, Survival, and Resilience: Robin’s Journey

We often take many aspects of our home for granted, from the appliances that simplify our lives to the running water and power that sustain our households. But what if you lost running water for 6 years? Robin, a longtime homeowner in Black Mountain, knows this all too well. When her pipes froze and burst in 2019, Robin had to find a way to survive. She notes, “I had that feeling of impending doom and despair. I thought I was going to be homeless in my retirement age. And nobody should feel like that.” 

Her story is a testament to strength, proving that even in the most difficult circumstances, the human spirit can rise above.

MHO Announces Financial Close on

Star Point Apartments

On Friday, February 28th, 2025, MHO secured the financing for Star Point, a 60-unit affordable housing community located off Tunnel Road in Asheville, North Carolina. This marks a significant milestone for the development, which will be built on a 1.3-acre site on Restaurant Court, just behind the Mountaineer Inn. Star Point will provide housing for renters earning up to 60% of the area’s median income, offering a mix of efficiency, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. Additionally, MHO will reserve 12 units at Star Point for young adults aging out of foster care, a group particularly vulnerable to housing instability and homelessness.
