The First of the Spring Bounty is Ready!
| | |
Spinach, Kale, and Onions... Oh My!
Land's Sake farmers have been harvesting a spring bounty of lettuce mix, tender baby kale, and arugula grown in the high tunnels. These structures provide coverage keeping the plants and soil warm and out of the wind, extending the spring and fall season. This week farmers began to harvest fresh spinach, with its relatively short growth cycle and preference for cool weather. In a few weeks, onions planted in the fall and overwintered in the ground will be ready to enjoy, far sooner than if they were planted in spring.
| | | | Swing by the farmstand Tuesday - Friday, 10am-6pm and Saturday & Sunday 10am-4pm to grab delicious local salad fixings: our freshly harvested greens, and the final 2025 crop of microgreens. Don't forget to nab seedling starters for your garden, while they last! Quantities are limited. The farmstand also has a variety of artisan products from local vendors, as well as fresh bread delivered Tues-Sat. Please note that the farmstand will be closed Sunday, May 25. | | |

T-Shirt Design Contest Winner
Congratulations Sandra, age 10!
| | | | |
We are excited to announce the winner of Land's Sake's 2025 Summer Education T-Shirt Design Contest: Sandra! With many fantastic designs received, it was a tough decision. Sandra's design will be featured on 2025 summer program T-shirts.
Sanda's design features "two farmers working happily, with animals all around them…a rabbit in the carrot patch, a hen cozied up by a crate full of carrots, a goat beside the hen, another goat beside a lettuce patch eating dandelions, and another hen beside the goat. A sprinkler sprays water into the air, forming a rainbow."
Congratulations, Sandra!
Thank you to all of the artists who entered. Stay tuned for details on next summer's design contest!
