The Semiquincentennial And Interesting Sleeves

The wonderful Emma Straub kicked off her remarks at Ladies of Summer by announcing, “I feel very comfortable in this room of printed dresses with interesting sleeves.” Our authors, Barrett booksellers, and attendees alike were decked out in many a patterned frock and it was a fabulous evening for all.

Thank you to Kimberly McCreight, Hannah McKinnon, and Emma Straub for making it a memorable night! If you are still hoping to wear a summery dress to an author event, be sure to get your ticket for Beatriz Williams at DCA on July 7th (scroll down for more details)!

We are open today (July 3rd) until 6 pm, but are closed tomorrow (July 4th) so we can celebrate the country's 250th birthday! If you haven't checked out our America250 shelf, there are topical selections for all ages.

Lastly, make sure you bring your favorite kid(s) by the store to grab their Find Waldo passport! Waldo is hidden at 25 different Darien businesses and if you find him at 10 places, you can claim a Where's Waldo poster and a $1 off coupon Waldo books. If you find him in at least 20 hiding spots, you'll be entered to win a deluxe Waldo prize pack.

Stay cool and have a wonderful semiquincentennial celebration!
