Holiday Hope
Bringing comfort and joy to families.
For the families FACETS serves, many of whom are working hard to secure stable housing, this season can add pressure. Holiday Hope helps lighten that load so families can spend less time worrying and more time celebrating. The goal is to fill 1,200 bags with groceries and a $25 grocery card so every family can celebrate the season their way. At Epiphany, this food collection will replace the Angel Tree this year. Please bring all donations to Epiphany by December 5th. If you prefer to shop online, click here to visit FACETS’ list and have items sent directly to their office.

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It...
...is to help us make the Outreach space serve us
You may have noticed that we made some changes to the entrance to the nave. There are now three posters on the right side and one on the left. These are our new Outreach posters, and we invite you into the placemaking efforts of this space.
Did one of these posters catch your eye? Have you taken a verse to think on? If not, tell us why and share how we can make the space more engaging.
If you have ideas, talk to Rev. Dina or email Liz P.

FINAL COLLECTION WEEK!
Help Clothe God's Smallest Sheep This Winter
Warm clothes needed at Aldrin Elementary School
Kids at Aldrin Elementary School in Reston asked us for gently used or new winter coats, gloves, and hats: sizes 5/6 - adult medium (with more need for larger sizes). Aldrin Elementary has 69 students qualifying for free or reduced-price meals. In November, temperatures will drop to 42 degrees or lower during the morning commute, so we are hosting quick “mini drives” to get coats just in time.
Let’s be the logistical arms of Jesus and host a group of mini coat drives to share Aldrin Elementary’s request with others who might like the opportunity to participate. Can you take a flyer and post it at your workplace? In your neighbors' mailboxes? Bring it to soccer or dance practice?
Please bring donations back to Epiphany by Sunday, 11/15.

Fall Series: Yoga and Your Health
Have you heard it said that Life is Breath? Or To Move is to Live?
Breath and movement connect our mind and body. How we breathe and move can transform how we respond to our inner and outer world, and to the positive and negative stressors we experience. Join Eleanor Ware, LCSW, RYT 500, and Dr. Pam Shields, PT, RYT 200, for a four-session Fall Series on Yoga and Your Health. In this series, we will explore how breath, combined with movement and posture, can reduce physiological signs of stress in our lives and also improve our sense of well-being. You'll have the opportunity to track your physiological response before and after each Yoga session by measuring blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate. Each Yoga session lasts 75 minutes and is suitable for all body types and experience levels.
We hope you will join us for this special Yoga series on Nov 7 at 10am in the church sanctuary. Bring a mat and a small blanket or towel to each session. We will also have a few mats and blankets available if needed so everyone feels welcome to participate. Attending the series is free, and we encourage you to share this invitation with friends and family.
Send your questions by emailing Eleanor here or by emailing Pam here.

Dulles South Soup Kitchen in the Building
A place to
Say hello to Marleni Sandoval, the director of the Epiphany location of America’s Soup Kitchen. Some know it as Dulles South Soup Kitchen (DSSK).
Marleni is a cheerful taskmaster! Monday to Friday, 10-12, you will find her in Epiphany Episcopal’s kitchen, happily directing volunteers as they assemble meals. Marleni cooks the food fresh on-site, then supervises the volunteers as they assemble the meals, usually around 200 meals, plus about 40 salads. Each day she has an order to fill for two or three different facilities, so we keep a count as we assemble the meals.
Amazingly, we always finish our assigned tasks in two hours. Whether with one volunteer or five, there is always two hours’ worth of work! Sometimes Marleni has us work ahead by prepping food for later in the week, or labeling containers for future use.
For the meal assembly, Marleni demonstrates what she wants you to do, then leaves you to it. I usually say a prayer as I prep the meals: that this food will be a blessing to those who receive it, that it will comfort and support them, and that the recipients will feel God’s love.
Any day you want to volunteer, just go to Epiphany Episcopal Church at 3301 Hidden Meadow Drive, and follow the posted signs for the Soup Kitchen. The signs will take you to the back door of Epiphany’s kitchen. One day there was a big group of volunteers, so I just left and came back the next day.
DSSK is a subsidiary of America’s Soup Kitchen. Click here to register in advance as a volunteer.
If you want a no-obligation, bite-sized, but still impactful volunteer opportunity, DSSK is the place for you. Check it out!

Ministry Corner
Fellowship & Hospitality
Are you looking for a way to get involved in a ministry at Epiphany? Explore being part of Parish Life. This ministry often helps shape our fellowship opportunities on Sunday mornings. But it also welcomes newcomers and coordinates other kinds of social gathering activities like Watermelon Wednesdays or Firepit Fridays. You can serve as a ministry committee team member, or you can opt to be contacted for specific times and ways to participate. For example, you could be on a call list for help setting up, breaking down, or cleaning up for events or activities. Talk with Anne J. if you are interested in learning more. There are a number of ways that you can get involved, and we’d love to have you join us! Want to learn more about Parish Life? Click here!
