Today, we are excited to share more about her inspiration, journey and pursuit of inclusive practices in education. Here is her story:

My Inspiration

As a "Champion of Inclusion and Education," I envision the day when ALL children, across the globe, have access to equitable and inclusive schools and classrooms, social and emotional learning tools, and a school culture welcoming of community acceptance and whole school engagement. All in all, we have to be comfortable with having potentially uncomfortable conversations about removing barriers that create racial division and inequities.

Collectively, we must model this shift in our homes, schools, and communities. Behaviors are taught, and our children and youth are watching and listening. Let's work together to empower the next inclusive generation of students and embrace unification through education - and create learning communities that matter.

In the words of the late John Lewis, "We are one people; we are only family. And when we finally accept these truths, then we will be able to fulfill Dr. King's dream to build a beloved community, a nation, and a world at peace with itself.

My Journey

My journey into the education sector was divine intervention and a higher purpose from a higher calling. Early on, while employed as a mental and behavioral health practitioner, I was spiritually led into teaching both special education and dual English as a second language and special education learners. While serving these two populations, my advocacy and policy initiatives intensified. I championed for positive interventions and behavioral supports, data collection and progress monitoring with fidelity, differentiated instruction and successful implementation of accommodations for students with disabilities, prioritizing the scheduling of special education services for students with disabilities, and individuals with disabilities education act training for general education teachers.

I always knew that I would know, in my heart, the time to advocate for education on a global level. That day came in 2016, while in a meeting with an administrator, grade level team, and English as a second language department and hearing a colleague express disdain for having one of my learners in her classroom. At that moment, I recognized that for change to occur, I would have to build a platform for it. Subsequently, the early beginnings have been establishing a mental health private practice and education consulting firm with two missions: Creating Pathways without Roadblocks and Equitable Pathways for All.
