From Your Administrative Team

Happy Exhibition Week!

Greetings Connect Families,

We are so excited to celebrate your students' on campus learning next week at Exhibition! Exhibition is a signature practice and mandatory event for all Da Vinci Schools students. It is another opportunity for students to "show what they know" on a larger scale in front of visitors from all over the Da Vinci Community! Here are a few reminders to help Exhibition feel successful for you and your family:

What will my child wear: (Please do not go out and buy anything new)

  • Professional Dress: be mindful it will be a little chilly
  • Nice slacks, button up shirt, ties, knee length skirt or dress, and dress shoes

* We are still hoping to build an Exhibition closet--if you have any gently used Exhibition clothes from the past, we would love to use them to build our Exhibition closet where students can loan Exhibition clothes in the future!

Tips before attending:

  • Families decide to either eat before the event or celebrate with a meal after the event
  • Be mindful, if you're not eating before the event, students will need a snack and drink before their presentation
  • Parking will be difficult, so make plans accordingly. If our parking lot is full, you can utilize street parking--please remember to follow our good neighbor policy when parking in the neighborhood!
  • Please supervise your child(ren) at all times when they are not presenting, including younger siblings. Our playgorund equipment and chicken coop will NOT be available during this event
  • You are welcome to take photos/video of your student's presentation! Please be mindful of other community members and please refrain from using your phone to make a call/text in presentation spaces
  • While it may be tempting to take advantage of this opportunity to access your child's teacher, please allow them to focus on supporting student presentations

How to help your child prepare:

  • Students will practice and prepare in class--and it's ok to make a mistake during their presentation! It's ok for them to say "I don't know, I need to think more about that!".
  • Be positive and excited to come and see their work--their hard work is worth celebrating!
  • When arriving for their presentation, please allow students to enter the room first and wait outside until your student invites you in the room.
  • Once your student presents to you, please exit the presentation space and visit other classrooms until your child's presentation timeslot is over. They deserve this opportunity for autonomy and to share their learning with other visitors!

After their presentation:

  • Families are asked to stay for the entirety of at least one of the Exhibition shifts: 4:30-5:15 or 5:30-6:15, to ensure that all classes have ample visitors in their spaces. You are welcome to stay OR leave after your timeslot is over!
  • Please make sure to visit classrooms in addition to your student's. There will be eager student presenters to greet you in each space! It is important to follow the specific protocols in each classroom so that we honor student work appropriately.
  • Take time to celebrate your learner in whatever way feels best for your family!

This is a gentle reminder that every student is required to participate in Exhibition. Please be sure your student is in their classroom and ready by the beginning of their presentation time. Please ensure you have this date and time on your calendar as this is a required event for all Da Vinci students.

  • Monday/Tuesday Cohort:
  • Tuesday, December 6th from 4:30-5:15 and/or 5:30-6:15
  • Thursday/Friday Cohort:
  • Thursday, December 8th from 4:30-5:15 and/or 5:30-6:15
  • If you are confused or wondering about your child's specific presentation time, or have other Exhibition questions, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher

We can't wait to share this experience with all of you!

Take Good Care,

Kaitlin (she/her) and Sage (he/him)
