CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy Triune God,

In baptism you gave us the Holy Spirit

to teach and guide us;

but we rely on ourselves,

and refuse to trust your direction.

In baptism you joined us to Christ in his death

that we might be raised with Christ in new life;

but we cherish old ways

and fail to embrace the risen life

of righteousness, justice, and love.

Remember the promises you made to us in our baptism,

forgive our sinful ways

and heal our brokenness.

Set us free from all that enslaves us,

and raise us to new life in Jesus Christ,

that we may be your faithful servants,

showing forth your healing love to the world,

to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF GRACE

Anyone who is in Christ

is a new creation.

The old life has gone;

a new life has begun.

I declare to you in the name of Jesus Christ,

you are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

*GLORIA: GtG 582

Glory to God, Whose Goodness Shines on Me

Glory to God, whose goodness shines on me,

and to the Son, whose grace has pardoned me,

And to the Spirit, whose love has set me free.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen.

TIME WITH YOUNG DISCIPLES

QUESTIONS FOR THE CHILDREN OF THE CHURCH

Today we celebrate that Valentina Bella is becoming part of our church family.

We are all God’s children.

These questions are for us, the children of First Presbyterian Church of Smithtown.

Each time we say, “We will,”

we make a promise to God and to Valentina.

Will we help Valentina remember

that God loves her and we love her? If so say, “We will.”

“We will.”

Will we share the stories of Jesus

with Valentina? If so say, “We will.” We will.

On behalf of the children

I give this book of Bible stories to Valentina and her family.

May it guide them as they grow in faith.

DECLARATION

THE BAPTISM

LAYING ON OF HANDS AND ANOINTING

Valentina Bella, child of the covenant, you have been sealed by the Holy Spirit in baptism and marked as Christ’s own forever. Amen.

God who began a good work in you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. Amen.

WELCOME

Valentina Bella, you have been received into the one holy catholic and apostolic church through Baptism.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, you have become a member of the household of God, to share with us in the ministry of Christ

With joy and thanksgiving, we welcome you into the body of Christ.

Alleluia! Amen!

Live as a child of the light and let your light shine before others. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
