Microsoft Authenticator Password Depreciation
While the Microsoft Authenticator app probably isn't the favorite app of everyone who has it, it did have more features in it than many other authenticator apps. One of these features was to act as a sort of password manager for the phone - a feature that will be deprecated starting in June.
The most recent updates, Microsoft reports that the ability to enter new passwords to be saved will cease to operate in June. The following month, the auto-fill ability from those saved passwords will cease to work. Finally, in August users will no longer be able to access the passwords previously saved in the app.
All this means that anyone utilizing that function of the app will need to make sure they save their passwords elsewhere in the coming months and be sure to migrate and they've previously saved in Microsoft Authenticator to wherever they plan to store them next. Microsoft Authenticator was never a true password manager, so it's recommended that anyone in need of this migration use a full-suite password manager that's designed specifically for that purpose moving forward.
It should be noted that the original primary function of the app (to serve as an MFA method) will not be changed and will continue to function as normal.
