Greetings!

Encounter, embrace, embark.

Those are the three words that guide us as we live into this summer with all its complexities and surprises. We encounter each other as neighbors, embrace the twists and turns of our shared journey, and embark on the path forward with good courage, wherever it may lead.

In recognition of the evolving public health situation and CDC guidance, we are making some adjustments to our life together. Out of care for the most vulnerable among us, indoor masking will be required in public spaces at Holden. We'll also make the most of our stunning natural setting, with dining, activities, teaching faculty sessions, and daily worship held outdoors as much as possible.

As we move forward in wellness and health, we’re grateful for the meaningful Holden moments we’ve cultivated so far this summer: friends and families reuniting, voices lifting together in harmonies, shrieks of laughter, ice cream, hikes, learning and unlearning facilitated by our wonderful teaching faculty, joining together to create something bigger than ourselves, and taking that transformative power out into the world.

Faithfully,

Stacy Kitahata, Mark Bach, and Kathie Caemmerer-Bach
Holden Village Executive Directors

Listen to former Washington State Poet Laureate Elizabeth Austen discuss the power of poetry, and how it can offer moments of stillness and connection in a frantic, clamorous world.
