PCAO Hires Veteran Attorneys to Work in Criminal Division

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Pima County Attorney’s Office (PCAO) is pleased to announce the hiring of veteran attorneys Paul Skitzki and Nicki DiCampli, who will be transferring from the Pima County Public Defender’s Office, where they have worked for years. Together, they bring 60 years of legal experience serving the people of Pima County.

Mr. Skitzki has extensive courtroom and trial experience, having handled more than 200 criminal trials and accumulated eight years of civil litigation experience. He has worked at the Pima County Public Defender’s Office since 2005, serving as an Assistant Public Defender and Trial Team Supervisor. In this role, he supervises a felony trial team, providing leadership, training, and guidance to attorneys while managing a caseload involving misdemeanor and felony offenses. Before joining the Public Defender’s Office, Skitzki served as a Deputy County Attorney with PCAO from 1999 to 2004, handling criminal prosecutions in the Property Crimes and Gun Crime Unit.

Ms. DiCampli joined the Pima County Public Defender’s Office in 2017 and currently serves as a Trial Attorney Supervisor. In this role, she represents clients facing felony charges, manages complex criminal cases from initial investigation through trial and sentencing, and provides training and mentorship to newly hired attorneys. Prior to her time at the Public Defender’s Office, DiCampli owned and operated the Law Office of Nicki DiCampli, where she represented clients in state and federal courts in criminal and family law matters, including serious felony offenses, divorce, child custody, and child support. DiCampli also served as a trial attorney with the Pima County Attorney’s Office from 1999 to 2005, working in the Misdemeanor, Property, and Special Victims Units.

Pima County Attorney Laura Conover said the hires present an extraordinary opportunity to bring this level of experience to the office, benefiting new attorneys and staff through their knowledge, mentorship, and leadership.

“In 2005, I was a brand-new felony trial attorney, and Bob Hooker and Bob Hirsh had the good sense to hire Paul into the office. My brilliant mentor at the time encouraged me to be brave and knock on Paul’s door to learn as much as I could from him, and I sure did. In the years that followed, when I moved into federal court, I had the good fortune to co-try some cases with Nicki. Although she wasn’t supervising me, I certainly had the good sense to learn as much as I could from her. It is now my honor and pleasure to be able to bring so many of these talented prosecutors, like Paul and Nicki, back into PCAO to train the next generation of young lawyers.”

Both Skitzki and DiCampli will take on supervisory roles in the Criminal Division at PCAO on November 16, 2026.
