January 2026 Newsletter Content | | | | | | |
When the ball drops in New York at midnight on December 31 and we turn the calendar to a new year, many of us set resolutions, goals, and targets; vow to stay in touch with people; and promise to get together more often. I didn’t do that this year. Instead, I asked myself a question: What if this is the year I choose to show up differently? What if, instead of feeling “obligated” to do the many things on my calendar, I see each one as an opportunity to learn something, meet someone new, be inspired by someone’s enthusiasm, or see a small part of the world through someone else’s eyes?
It did not take me long to feel the exhilaration of putting this question to the test. My sister was visiting from Virginia, and I took her to the Friends of the Everglades See Your Impact event on January 8. I am so proud of the innovative ways our nonprofit grant recipients put our donations to work, but seeing my sister’s reaction to that project changed my perspective and rekindled my enthusiasm and excitement for our mission.
Being part of this group of dynamic women who are changing the face of our county through collective giving is extraordinary. I feel so lucky to live in an area with a group like this, one that puts me in a position to be a philanthropist. What we do is simple: one woman, one vote, one mission. It doesn’t need to be more complicated than that. Everyone, from the newest member to a member of the Board of Directors to a founding member, has the same vote.
This year, I am going to show up differently. I would love to see many of you at a See Your Impact, Culture Club, Nature Club, or Impactful Conversation event. And I promise that whether I see you or not, your impact will be the same as mine. We are creating a better world for the people who live here, and for that, I am honored and thankful.
May 2026 be filled with joy, laughter, prosperity, and good health for us all.
Warmly,
| | President, Impact100 Martin | | |

Need a speaker for your group? We can help!
If you are in a civic group, involved in a consortium of nonprofit leaders, or part of the committee that plans presentations for your Home Owners Association or club, we have women who are happy to talk to your group about Impact100. Nancy Wong, Arati Hammond, Maureen Cotter, Genevieve George and Sue Whittington are the women who form our Speaker’s Bureau, and they can provide a 10-20 minutes program for your organization. This is part of our effort to spread the word about Impact100 Martin to potential members, nonprofit grant applicants and sponsors.
For more information or to schedule a speaker, please call and leave a message on our Impact100 phone number (772-245-7770) and one of us will respond within 24 hours.

House of Hope's new food preservation program preserves fresh produce that they grow or receive in bulk donations, as well as healthy meals and sauces made in their nutrition center. This program reduces food waste, increases healthy food options for our clients and partners, and significantly extends the shelf life of nutritious food items House of Hope distributes.

Tami Larkan
Effective women are spirit-driven, and we have many in Impact100 who have answered that call to devote themselves to community service. Among them is Tami Larkan.
A true Floridian (born and raised in Stuart), Tami went to the University of Florida in Gainesville and met and married her husband, Clint, there.
After 8 years in the DC area, they returned to Martin County in 2006, where Clint established his architectural firm and began a construction business. Tami worked as a math teacher in Virginia and, back home, has taught in both a private academy and with Florida Virtual School. These experiences, raising her three children, and working for her husband’s design/build firm have fueled her true passion: serving others through her involvement in local nonprofit organizations. She has particular enthusiasm for the work of one of our Grant Award recipients, Project LIFT. In addition, as a parishioner at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Tami serves on the board of the Healing Center of Martin County and as the co-chair of the Outreach Committee and has committed many hours to working with Place of Hope, Safe Families for Children, the Treasure Coast Food Bank, the Monterey Community (delivering 105 Christmas baskets this year), and Pancakes in the Park (a new ministry centered around sharing a meal while building relationships with the unhoused).
Tami heard about Impact100 from Maureen Cotter and Jen Eaton and quickly became a member. Truly, she has a heart for anyone who needs help, and we are excited she has joined us.
