Spring is here!

Dear Customers and Colleagues,

As we settle into the early months of 2026, we want to take a moment to thank all our customers, research collaborators, and clinical teams. Your continued trust, feedback, and commitment to advancing respiratory science have made the past year one of growth, momentum, and meaningful progress.

Across cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, and broader respiratory research communities, we have seen ongoing innovation and increasing interest in advanced lung-function assessment. We look forward to supporting your work with stable instrumentation, transparent communication, and dependable service throughout the year ahead.

In this issue:

  • EXHALYZER® Plus
  • Service Level Agreement
  • Price Increase Notice
  • Case Review
  • Calendar of Events

Building on the proven performance of the EXHALYZER® D platform, the EXHALYZER® Plus delivers modernized hardware, enhanced robustness, expanded pulmonary-function capabilities, and optimized integration with SPIROWARE® 4.x.

Key advantages include:

  • Updated hardware architecture for longevity and stability
  • Full compatibility with nitrogen multiple & single-breath washout (N₂-MBW & N2-SBW)
  • Enhanced support for spirometry (FEV1 & FVC)
  • Streamlined user experience for research programs
  • Future-ready design aligned with evolving regulatory and study requirements

The EXHALYZER® Plus is now open for quotation, procurement planning, and virtual demonstrations.

(Research Use Only — not FDA or Health Canada approved.)

Beginning in 2026, annual Preventive Maintenance (PM) services are being replaced by the new Service Level Agreement (SLA). The ECO PHYSICS INC's SLA is a comprehensive support and preventive maintenance program designed to keep your instruments operating at peak performance while minimizing downtime, delays, and unexpected repair costs.

The SLA provides:

  • One guaranteed annual PM
  • Priority access to technical, application, and SPW support
  • Dedicated phone and email support
  • Direct access to ECO PHYSICS' technical experts
  • Guaranteed 4–8-hour response time for all inquiries
  • Application support, troubleshooting & remote training
  • Secure remote diagnostics (Zoom/Teams/Google Meet)

This expanded service model offers greater security, predictable scheduling, and faster expert support for research-intensive environments.

Due to continued global supply-chain constraints and recent adjustments in Swiss import tariffs, consumables pricing will increase modestly by 3–5% beginning in early 2026.

We are committed to maintaining stability wherever possible and will continue prioritizing quality, availability, and fair pricing across all product categories.

Special Case Report with the EXHALYZER(R) D

The case highlights a special case report provided by Dr. Per Gustafsson from the University of Gothenburg, illustrating the clinical value of Lung Clearance Index (LCI) in measuring complex airway disease(s).

The case describes a 59-year-old man with lifelong asthma, a heavy smoking history, and occupational exposures who was referred with presumed severe COPD. Comprehensive lung function testing—including spirometry, plethysmography, diffusing capacity, nitrogen washout, and impulse oscillometry—revealed extensive airway closures, significant gas trapping, markedly impaired ventilation distribution, and reduced gas-exchange capacity. Findings suggest both asthma and COPD contribute to his condition, consistent with Asthma–COPD Overlap Syndrome (ACOS).

LCI and nitrogen washout measures were particularly valuable in identifying peripheral airway involvement and ventilation inhomogeneity that traditional spirometry alone could not fully capture.
