1.)    Join Butterfly Pediatrics Virtually on Friday, September 16th from 11:30am – 12:30pm
Mark your Calendars! On Friday, September 16th from 11:30am – 12:30pm we will be joined by Butterfly Pediatrics for their first of monthly conversations with us this school year to discuss student behavior.  On the 3rd Friday of each month from 11:30am – 12:30pm, experts from Butterfly Pediatrics will join us virtually to answer your questions and give resources/ideas about situations your programs are dealing with.

To make the most of our hour can you please email me at david.mayer@seattlearch.org  by Wednesday, September 14th any situation/example you are dealing with that you would like the experts from Butterfly Pediatrics to discuss during the virtual meeting. I will be sending these case studies in advance to the Butterfly team so they can be prepared to give you as much information as possible during our time together. Even if you are not able to join the meeting, you can still submit situations and we will record the conversations and send a recording link to all.

Please see link below for the Zoom access to this meeting – looking forward to a great conversation.

2.)    Wildfire Smoke Resources
The worst of the current wildfire smoke was supposed to dissipate by the end of the weekend, but that does not mean it won’t come back later in September or October. The Washington State Department of Health has created two helpful resources to help manage operations during times when smoke is present. Please see below for the following:

Washington Air Quality Guide for School and Child Care Activities: Air Pollution and School Activities - Public Health Recommendations for Schools (wa.gov)

Washington Smoke Information Blog: Washington Smoke Information (wasmoke.blogspot.com)

3.)    Licensed Program Webinar: Thursday, September 15th at 4:15pm: Topic – OPEN MIC
Please join us this year for our monthly Licensed Program Webinar’s. Our first Webinar will take place on Thursday, September 15th at 4:15pm. It will be recorded for those unable to attend. This month’s topic will be OPEN MIC. Come to the meeting with any questions you have about License Program Administration and Operation and I will answer your questions. If you have the question, my guess is that others do as well! If you are unable to attend the meeting please email me a question and I will address it in the meeting for the recording. Please see below for the Zoom link for the Webinar. Looking forward to a great conversation!

4.)    Licensed Only: Free STARS Trainings Monthly through Office of Catholic Schools:
September – Musically Minded with Jocelyn Manzanarez – 4 SPOTS LEFT
We welcome back Jocelyn Manzanarez of Circle Time Success, one of our most popular presenters during PD Day. Her session is going to be unique from the others because the trainings are recorded and you can take them anytime in September. We decided to do this because of the busy back to school month. You will have two options of sessions to take from Jocelyn. 1. Circle Time Certified; Tips, Tricks and TONS of activities to keep circle time FRESH, FUN and FULL OF LEARNING! OR 2.  Yes! Uke'N Plan the Ukulele (Full Descriptions below). These trainings are open to all licensed staff (including you and anyone working in your program).

We only have 20 slots for these great trainings so please register ASAP if interested. You will fill out the registration form below and I will send you the enrollment link and coupon code to get access to the training! As a reminder I list and update regularly a variety of STARS approved trainings on the Early Learning Landing Page from a variety of different organizations that facilitate trainings.

Circle Time Certified; Tips, Tricks and TONS of activities to keep circle time FRESH, FUN and FULL OF LEARNING! - 4 STARS Hours, 4 hours
Course Description: It’s no surprise that the number one struggle teachers face at circle time is keeping kids engaged. When there are children with different interests, attention spans and skills, group time can be a challenge for even the most seasoned teacher. The great news is that creating a group learning environment where everyone has fun is totally possible!
Join Jocelyn as she teaches proven strategies that engage learners while teaching across the curriculum using music and movement. Learn songs, stories, transition techniques and more that will take your circle times to the head of the class. This training is a must for any teacher who doesn't just want to be good at circle time, they want to be certified!

Yes! Uke'N Plan the Ukulele - 4 STARS Hours, 4 hours
Course Description: Bring the beauty of music into your classroom AND your life by learning to play the ukulele! Playing an instrument provides an outlet for creativity and what could be better than the stress-relieving sounds of a ukulele? Interested in learning to play? Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a skilled musician, a virtuoso, or even musically inclined. In this 4 week course, Jocelyn will teach you through a step-by-step process paced just right for beginners. You'll also learn tons of songs your kids will love singing at circle time!

Training Hours: 4 hours and you will need access to a Ukulele – please see link below if you do not have one:

Training Format: Online,4 week course

Have a great week!
