Why is everyone at the gym asking me why I am sitting still on the stationary bike?!...

I missed this last week!

I cannot believe I forgot to include a State of the City recap in last week’s eblast! A huge thank you to Mayor Hellier; Community Development Director, Tina Goodroad; Economic Development Manager, Kati Bachmayer; and several other for preparing and presenting the State of the City address last month. We had a great turnout of each session and the new Pavilion at Antler’s is gorgeous. Rentals are already filling up, so if you want to reserve the space this year – do it soon. You can see the slides HERE.

Welcome Natreum!

Not only is Natreum a new local retail storefront serving premium CBD and THC products – it is such a CUTE space! Kiel even has his grandmother’s quilt hanging in the store. Kiel and his staff focus on education and knowledge with your health and wellness in mind. He is located right off I-35, on Buck Hill Road.

Another great year!

Another great year in the books for SUDS FOR SCHOLARS. We will know TODAY how many high school scholarships we are able to award in 2024, but it is looking good! Thank you to all who came out and to the sponsors and brewers that made the night possible. If you could not make it, be sure and check out one, or two, or all of the brewers throughout the year!  Click the image to see and print the tasting card.

At the Capitol this week

You may have seen John and his furniture if you were out at the home show. If not, come check it out here!

Wednesday, May 8

Lunch MOBs are your once a month opportunity to drop in for a casual lunch with a group of fellow members. It is casual, you order off the menu and pay your own tab, and just enjoy lunch with some new friends! I highly recommend leaving room for dessert this month! And, if you are a coffee drinker - the Miel is a MUST!

Thursday, May 9

The Celebrate Tourism luncheon checks a lot of boxes – there is an attractions expo, a keynote (this year, the CEO of the MN State Fair!), and an awards ceremony honoring some of our Lakeville hospitality stars. It is one of the four signature luncheons we do each year – come check it out! Rumor has it there might be food on a stick.

Congratulations to our winners, including retiring Parks & Recreation Director for the City of Lakeville, John Hennen.

MAY TOPIC

Be Informed:

Scams can impact every business, regardless of location, size, or industry. And, they can be especially problematic for small businesses. Fortunately, knowledge is the best protection.

Join us to hear from BBB of MN & ND’s President and CEO, Susan Adams Loyd, for an insightful conversation for business leaders to spot, stop and report scams.

City Administrator, Justin Miller, will also give an update on the franchise fee discussions happening at the city, and we will have our usual around the horn updates from local and elected officials. Access & Issues is open to all members, and is held the 2nd Friday of each month at 8am via Zoom. If you would like the meeting link, please email me.

Q1 in the books

The first new resident welcome packet mailing of the year is out the door and on its way to our new Lakeville residents! Thank you to all of the businesses who included flyers, coupons, and information for our new Lakevillians!

We met the fleet!

Thank you to Dakota County, our Commissioners, and the Fleet Management Team for welcoming the six local Dakota County Chambers to their Empire Maintenance Facility on Friday. We had a county update from Commissioner Atkins, a demographic overview, and then a comprehensive tour of the multi-building facility that houses the county’s fleet vehicles – from trucks and tractors to SWAT and patrol vehicles. It was a fabulous tour and a great time. Thank you to Xcel Energy for sponsoring the event!
