Screens to Stage Fundraising Campaign Results!
|
|
We are blown away to report that we raised $30,000 during our Screens to Stage Giving Campaign, which wrapped up on Nov. 20.
Thank you to everyone who came out last Wednesday night for our Screens to Stage Wrap Party. We raised about $10,000 alone that night, and it was a wonderful night full of fun and energy. Watching our kids perform in front of a crowd for the first time in what seems like forever was amazing. Thanks to everyone's generosity during our 3-week campaign, we exceeded our goal of $20,000. We are hopeful that we will need to raise less in the spring because of these efforts! We are all so grateful for this community and thank you for giving so generously.
THANK YOU!
Special thanks to Fundraising Chair Kris Bulson, BPA CoPresident Jeannette Chen, Em Cee Danny Adamson, Sound and Logistics pro Steve Skonieczny, and Admin Jill Hansen, who made this event happen. And a big thank you to our volunteers who helped sell raffle tickets, take payments, advise on fundraising communications, and wrangle kids: Carol Cheyne, Mishelle Jin, Shelley Rousseau, Jolyn Mason, Tanya Davis, Michelle Murphy, Karen Morse, Jamiee Papineau, Hero Alldredge and Kevin Bulson, Student photographer Mali Sanchez.
Don't forget corporate matching!
Does your company offer matching contributions to donations you’ve made? If so, don’t forget to take advantage of them for our Screens to Stage fundraising campaign. The more we raise now, the less we have to do later in the year.
Donation letters will be going out starting Monday 11/22. Many employers require proof of donation, so be sure to turn in your donation thank you letter to your employer to get the allowed matching funds.

|
Did you like the event format? Have ideas for how to improve it?
We want to hear that too! Our aim is to host events that are fun, casual, and build community, raise funds, and have free admission, so they include and are accessible to as many people as possible. Send us feedback at ballardperformingarts@gmail.com.

Important Concert Wear Info for Tuxedo-Wearers
For the winter concerts, students wearing tuxes must wear a tux shirt as part of their concert uniform. Several students were wearing white dress shirts at the fall concerts, which don’t work with the bow ties.
- Please pick up a shirt from Ted Brown Music. Do not order online; those shirts are not the ones required.
- There are some gently used tux shirts, mostly small and medium, in the uniform room for purchase. $15 for shirt and cuff link/stud set. Come in before school starts to try one on.

Concert Volunteers Needed!
We need parent volunteers to help with the upcoming concert series. It will be best if parents from other groups can volunteer at a concert that their student is not involved with. For example, choir parents can volunteer at the band or orchestra concert.
Dec 14 | Orchestra Winter Concert 6 pm (9 and 10 grade); 8 pm (11 and 12 grade)
Dec 15 | Band Winter Concert, 6 pm (9 and 10 grade); 8 pm (11 and 12 grade)
Dec 16 | Choir Winter Concert, 6 pm (9 and 10 grade); 8 pm (11 and 12 grade)
We need a total of 12 volunteers for each evening:
- Two volunteers needed to check IDs and vaccine cards
- Two volunteers to usher groups to their seats
- Two volunteers to supervise students as they wait in the music rooms
To volunteer with Seattle Public Schools, you MUST complete the SPS online process. PLEASE start this process ASAP. Check with Cindy Peterson in the admin office to see if your paperwork is up to date.

Student Spotlight
It’s been an amazing year of memorable performances by our talented student musicians and performers—and in honor of their resilience and passion for the performing arts, we’re starting a weekly Student Spotlight section, where we’ll recognize a student or group of students each week.
This week, we recognize:
-
Singer/songwriter Charles Landschultz
-
Singer Ella Papineau
-
Singer Lydia Van Kley
-
Cellist Kevin Bulson
for performing solos at the Screens to Stage Wrap Party.
From the Directors: “It takes a lot of courage to perform alone for peers and one's community, and we appreciate them sharing their music with us!”
|
|
Do you have videos from the Screens to Stage Wrap Party you can share? We had a technical glitch and are looking for videos of all the performances.
|
|
Check out past performances any time on our YouTube and Vimeo c hannels.
