Think You’ve Got What It Takes? Join the YF&R Discussion Meet!

Are you ready to put your agricultural knowledge to the test, share your ideas, and compete for cash prizes and a custom championship belt buckle?

Nevada Farm Bureau is looking for young farmers, ranchers, and agricultural leaders to compete in the 2026 Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) Discussion Meet during the 107th Nevada Farm Bureau Annual Meeting, November 11–13 in Las Vegas.

$1,000 in Prizes + a Custom Belt Buckle!

There’s even more on the line this year:

🥇 1st Place — $500 + Custom Belt Buckle

🥈 2nd Place — $300

🥉 3rd Place — $150

🏅 4th Place — $50

The state winner will also have the opportunity to represent Nevada at the national level!

Never Competed Before? Don’t Let That Stop You!

Despite the name, the Discussion Meet is not a debate. Think of it more like a committee meeting where participants discuss an important agricultural issue, exchange ideas, listen to different perspectives, and work together to identify possible solutions.

Competitors are evaluated on their knowledge of the topic, communication skills, ability to engage with others, and contributions to the overall discussion.

You do not have to be an expert or have all the answers. The goal is to show how well you can think through an issue, communicate your ideas, listen to others, and work toward solutions.

Who Can Compete?

The YF&R program is open to Farm Bureau members ages 18–35. You don't have to own a large farm or ranch to participate. If you farm, ranch, work in agriculture or an agricultural business, or simply care about the future of Nevada agriculture, we encourage you to get involved.

We would especially love to see young agricultural leaders from counties across Nevada represented at the table.

Start Preparing Now!

The official Discussion Meet questions are released in advance, so you have time to research, prepare, and think through your ideas before arriving in Las Vegas.

This year’s questions tackle issues directly affecting agriculture and rural communities, including:

  • Rural Energy Infrastructure
  • Rural & Large Animal Veterinarians
  • Local Meat Processing
  • Growing YF&R
  • Agriculture, Food & Public Health

Review the complete questions and Discussion Meet information here.

Why Compete?

The prizes are great, but the Discussion Meet offers much more. It’s a chance to build your public speaking and leadership skills, learn more about issues affecting agriculture, meet other young farmers and ranchers, make connections across Nevada, and become more involved in Farm Bureau.

Most importantly, you don’t have to be an expert to give it a try.

Come prepared to have a conversation, share what you know, listen to others, and bring your ideas to the table.

We Need YOU at the Table!

Nevada agriculture needs its next generation of leaders involved, and the Discussion Meet is a great place to start.

Annual Meeting registration is open now, so sign up, start reviewing the questions, and get ready to compete in Las Vegas!

You could leave Annual Meeting with $500, a custom Nevada championship belt buckle, and the opportunity to represent Nevada on the national stage.

Think you’ve got what it takes? Step up to the table—we’d love to have you compete!

White Pine County Tours Spring Valley Wind Farm

White Pine County Farm Bureau recently toured Pattern Energy’s Spring Valley Wind Farm, where members heard a presentation, participated in a Q&A session, and got an inside look at a wind turbine to learn more about how the turbines operate.

The tour was followed by a White Pine County Farm Bureau policy discussion, giving members an opportunity to talk about issues affecting agriculture and their local community.

As we head into the Nevada Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in November, county policy discussions are especially important. Farm Bureau is a grassroots organization, and the policy process starts with our members at the county level. The ideas and concerns brought forward locally help shape the policies considered by members during Annual Meeting and ultimately guide Nevada Farm Bureau’s work.

Your voice matters, and it all starts at the county level!

Mark Your Calendar: 2026 County Farm Bureau Annual Meetings

County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting season is here!

County Annual Meetings are an important part of Nevada Farm Bureau's grassroots process. These meetings give members an opportunity to connect with other farmers, ranchers and community members, hear updates, discuss issues affecting agriculture locally, and help determine the priorities of their County Farm Bureau.

Most importantly, your voice matters. The conversations and policy ideas that begin at the county level help guide Nevada Farm Bureau and ensure our organization continues to represent the needs of Nevada agriculture.
