Demonstrations of LOVE
One of our community spiritual practices is sharing demonstrations; evidence of how this stuff actually works in our lives.
This week we shared how our core community value of LOVE is showing up in our lives.
Gabrielle: My husband deals with restless leg and he has a rough time sleeping. So instead of getting pissed that he doesn't come, I understand, and I look at it from a perspective of love; that he's going through such a hard time, and instead of getting angry, I fill him with love and I pray that he gets relief.
Mary Anne: On Monday night, Reverend Frank and I were officially welcomed officially into the Practitioner Core in a ceremony and dinner in Rebecca Bealle’s home. I experienced great love among our Core. It was so beautiful. I just wanted to share with you that you have a wonderful Practitioner Core; very welcoming, very loving. So, I guess I'm official now.
Rev. Jenna: Reverend Nancy Stepp, a prior minister here, is now a resident at Lorien Encore in Ellicott City. She's welcoming guests, but please be mindful that at times she's tired so the visits may be short.
Amon: I've got several people who are very close to me who are experiencing their immediate loved ones in the stage of transition. So standing with them and supporting them through this time is a way that I can be love.
Nancy: We were blessed by having my daughter, who is just lovely, and her youngest daughter come visit yesterday morning because they had a hockey game local.
And my daughter is an amazing vegan cook, and she cooks all the meals in her household. Tom and I were able to provide a really yummy meal for her with a lacinato kale salad, which my granddaughter literally devoured by the handfuls. What was great is that she was just laying on the couch and she said, "You know, I saw on Facebook that when daughters go to their parents' house, they just become the child."
And I've often laughed about that before because I’ve said before to Tom: "Do you notice when Brittany comes she just lays around and does nothing?"
But she actually verbalized that, and I was so glad she did because it made me realize, nobody cooks for her, nobody cleans for her, she does it all on her own. And she was so grateful. She wrote me a very nice text afterwards. It really warmed my heart to be able to do something so simple that was so meaningful to her.
Dale: I went on a ride to Parole, Maryland without knowing what the entertainment would be, what the distance would be, or what the cost would be to see our musicians perform with three other people. It was love that grew and grew. I couldn't believe what a fabulous, entertaining two hours it was. I was so nurtured and reinforced for having gone out there by myself.
Gary: It's been written that the essence of love is not in the receiving or the giving, it's in the being.
Rev. Rafe: In the past few days with Terry’s passing on Thursday and Saturday being what would have been my son’s 51st birthday I’ve experienced tremendous love: Jami’s flowers, people expressing their condolences, and being honored on Friday night as one of the supporters of Light of Truth Recovery for Women at their 26th Anniversary Gala. That recognition is really recognition of YOU because YOU give to them through this spiritual center as our community tithe.
With Terry's passing, with yesterday being, would have been my son's 51st birthday,
With this morning and the flowers and Friday night being honored as one of the supporters of Light of Truth in their 26th anniversary which is a reflection on each of you because we tithe to them.
The Light of Truth is the activity of love providing recovery homes for women in recovery from addiction for as long as they need to stay to be fully prepared to leave. In a treatem & streetem industry, Rev. Vail, the founder and CEO is engaged in a tremendous act of love.
So in summary, love is everywhere and we get to be it and experience it when I allow it.
