Library Update:

The school year is fully in swing! Some benchmarks to be proud of so far: over 13 thousand student visits (including individual visits and class visits), book circulation has reached 2,387 books checked out so far this year, students have embraced the Literacy chords challenge and logged 56 thousand pages since August. To give some context to how many students are participating in the Literacy cords challenge, last year we only had 184 books logged throughout the entire year, this year we have had 206 since August. We have had 128 events scheduled for library instruction and services, this is almost DOUBLE the amount of events scheduled during this same time period last year which was only 78.

Early Dismissal from School

All students must check out with Ms. Espadas in the Attendance Office located in the Main Office before leaving school during the school day. Parents must also come in to check their students out, and they must present a valid ID that matches information in PowerSchool/HISD Connect. The main office will then request the student from class.

3:00 PM is the cut-off time to pick a student up early for the day. Parents arriving after 3:00 PM cannot have their student called down to the attendance office. If a student needs to be picked up early, they must be picked up before 3:00 PM.

When absent, students should turn in an excuse note (doctor’s, parent, etc…) to Ms. Espadas for filing. As a reminder, a minimum attendance requirement of 90% in each class is required to award course credit.

By speaking up and working together, we can prevent issues before they escalate, ensuring that Bellaire High School remains a safe place for learning and growth. Remember, if you see something that doesn’t feel right, don’t hesitate—report it here. Together, we can make a difference!
