I believe in God above;

I believe in Jesus’ love;

I believe his Spirit, too,

Comes to teach me what to do.

I believe that I should be

Kind and loving, Lord, like thee.

On Sunday, you'll hear me talk quite a bit about children. After all, most of my working life has been dedicated to serving children and young people. And while I love working with kids because they are so much fun, so full of potential? I've also aimed to work with them because I long for our world to take children seriously. Don't get me wrong - I think almost any organization would say that they care deeply for children. But that's not the same as taking them - as they are, right in this stage of life - seriously. I mean, who takes monsters under the bed, imaginary friends, and more seriously?

Usually, it's only parents.

As I prepare to transition to Atlanta, I will continue to pray for you and your children. Because I take childhood very seriously, indeed.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your Director of Family Ministries.

Love,

Sam

For Children

O Lord Jesus Christ, you took children into your arms and blessed them:

We pray you to keep our children ever enfolded by your love. Help them to grow in love of you; save them from evil; strengthen them against the impulse of self-will; inspire in them a high sense of truth and of the duty of human service; and give them grace to follow day by day in the steps of your most holy life.

Amen.
