Got Broken String Lights?

If they cannot be fixed, do not discard them in your curbside carts. Bring them to one of our facilities instead for recycling! All three of our facilities accept them in our E-Waste containers for free from residents. Learn about our convenient facility locations and hours of operations, and we will see you soon!

Recycle Your Tree!

Once you are ready to discard your natural tree, you can either leave it curbside, or cut it up to place in your yard waste cart, depending on your waste hauler. Here are some tips to make sure your tree gets recycled into compost:

🌲Tree must be free from all decorations – lights, ornaments, tinsel, etc

🌲NO flocked or tinted trees accepted

🌲NO tree stands accepted

Recycling Options:

Self-Haul your tree: Bring your tree to Johnson Canyon Landfill or Jolon Road Transfer Station for free to become compost!

Salinas residents: place your tree at the curb (cut into 4-foot sections) or in the yard waste cart between December 26 - January 15

Gonzales, Soledad, & Greenfield residents: Starting January 2nd - January 12th, single-family residences can place their Christmas trees curbside on their normal collection day, or cut it up and put in your yard waste cart any time.

King City & Unincorporated Monterey County residents: Christmas trees must be cut and placed inside the cart.

Thanks for doing your part!
