WILMETTE, IL. — Village Engineer Dan Manis has been selected to become the Village of Wilmette’s next Director of Engineering & Public Works and Project Manager Ron Milanesio as the new Village Engineer.
Manis will succeed Director Brigitte Berger-Raish, who retires March 9, 2026, after 25 years with the Village.
“I am excited to announce the promotions of Dan and Ron into their new roles,” Village Manager Mike Braiman said. “Succession planning has been a priority for us, and both individuals are well prepared to take on these critical roles. Dan and Ron are exceptional, well-respected engineers both of whom will ensure that we continue to provide the highest levels of service to Wilmette residents.”
Dan Manis
Mr. Manis is a licensed Professional Engineer with Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Southern Illinois University. Dan has 23 years of public and private sector experience, including the last 8 years as the Village Engineer for the Village of Wilmette. Mr. Manis previously worked for the City of Evanston as a Senior Project Manager and as a Staff Engineer in the private sector. As Village Engineer in Wilmette, Dan has been responsible for managing a team of six employees, responsible for the planning and implementation of infrastructure projects such as road resurfacing, alley repairs, brick street renovation, sidewalk and curb repair, water main replacement, and sewer main repairs.
Ron Milanesio
Mr. Milanesio is a licensed Professional Engineer, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Ron has 20 years of public and private sector engineering experience. Prior to joining Wilmette in 2023, Ron served as Civil Engineer for the City of Highland Park and as a Structural Engineer in the private sector. As Project Manager in Wilmette, Mr. Milanesio has been responsible for highly complex engineering projects, including management and oversight of Federally funded transportation projects, various water and sewer infrastructure improvement projects, and implementation of the Village’s Active Transportation Plan.
Messrs. Manis and Milanesio have been working closely with retiring Director of Engineering & Public Works Brigitte Berger-Raish to ensure a seamless transition and continued high level of service to the community.
