Upcoming Community Events
"Meet on the Street- Tonight at 7 PM"

Reminder, let's ALL go outside again tonight, May 1, at 7:00 pm, and make lots of noise for five minutes to recognize these heroes, our community first responders, maintenance personnel, and the many personnel in grocery, drug and restaurant businesses who allow us to “shelter in place” more conveniently.

Feel free to go beyond bells and applause to bang your pots and pans or blow your car horns – the louder the better for those five minutes. Folks enjoyed the opportunity to see their neighbors (from a safe distance, of course) and, most importantly, to confirm that Sea Pines remains strong and grateful for those who are on the front lines of fighting it for us.

Thank you for Successful Deep Well Donation Drive Events

We are thrilled to share the below stats with the community:

  • 3,300 pounds of good were collected through 4 separate donations to support Deep Well Project. Goods were delivered by 14 bicycle riders and 156 cars.

  • Deep Well noted that the local USPS typically runs their curbside mailbox food drive to benefit Deep Well at this time of the year, but it had been cancelled due to COVID-19. Thanks to the generous donations of the Sea Pines Community, the loss of goods from the USPS food drive has been recovered. Thank you again!
Sea Pines CSA Department Updates
From the Sea Pines Safety & Security Department:

Take Care, Be Aware
Being safe means always being aware of your surroundings. This applies to the wildlife that live among us.
Alligator Nesting Season Information & Safety Tips

  • Be conscious of nests near water’s edge that are covered and not easily seen. Female alligators are very protective of their eggs and young, so please be observant and keep a safe distance. To be safe while walking at dusk or after dark, always carry a flashlight.
  • Sea Pines Security places a sign where they are aware of an alligator nest.
  • Click here for more Alligator Facts and Safety Tips
Snakes are most active between April and October. Please take the below precautions to stay safe:

  • Never pick up or attempt to move a snake.
  • Never place your hands in holes.

  • Wear high boots, gaiters and thick pants when working or walking in grassy or wooded areas.

Turtle Nesting Season is Here
Follow the guidelines below to help nesting sea turtles and their hatchlings:

  • Lights out: The Town of HHI requires light visible from the beach be covered or turned off between the hours of 10pm-6am (May 1-Oct 31)
  • Keep the beach clean: Turtles can get entangled in plastic bags or other debris. Don’t leave your trash.
  • Fill in holes: Baby turtles often fall into the holes left on the beach and get disoriented and fall to prey.
  • Observe from a distance: Use a zoom lens and do not shine lights near the nests.
  • Don’t harass: Don’t pick up a baby turtle to “help it” on its journey to the water.
  • Leave nest sites alone. Do not disturb sea turtle nest markers. Obey these signs and please stay out of marked areas.
  • Report injured turtles: To report dead, injured or harassed turtles, call SCDNR at 1.800.922.5431

For a list of questions you should be prepared to answer when reporting an injured or dead turtle to SCDNR, visit: http://www.dnr.sc.gov/seaturtle/stssn.htm
A Message from Robbie Ames, Sea Pines Country Club, General Manager/COO
Sea Pines Country Club operations remain closed on Mondays during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though the golf course is closed on Mondays, we still have golf course maintenance taking place, where we try to accomplish as much as possible, including fertilizer and pesticide applications.

Our golf course superintendent has shared that he and his crew are experiencing a lot of extra course traffic on Mondays, with people walking, exercising, playing soccer and having fun. While we all appreciate that the golf course is a beautiful place to escape when it is closed, I just wanted to request your cooperation in staying off of the golf course on Mondays so we may conduct our normal agronomic practices.

Thank you for your adhering to this request.
For questions, please contact the Sea Pines Country Club directly at (843) 671-2345
