"
We learned about gratitude and humility - that so many people had a hand in our success, from the teachers who inspired us to the janitors who kept our school clean. . .and we were taught to value everyone's contribution and treat everyone with respect."
Michelle Obama

Dear Southern Door Community,
Our staff change the lives of children every day, and their work and impact extends far beyond the boundaries of the classroom. They play a pivotal role in our children’s lives, inspiring a lifelong love of learning and discovery and making a difference in their well-being and long-term success. As we get ready to celebrate this first week of May as National Staff Appreciation Week, I encourage you to thank that special staff person who has “made a difference” for your child, or even in your own life as a student.
Last night we began the first of many May celebrations throughout the district, with the induction of our new members in the National Honor Society. Each year as I listen to the "stories" of some of our young people, their academic and co-curricular successes, their success in the trades, their leadership and service to the community, it is amazing! As we continue the celebrations across the district, I hope you will take the time to acknowledge the accomplishments of the children in your lives and attend their special events. Your support truly helps us be a school that is Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!
Patti

SCHOOL BOARD PROCLAMATION
FOR NATIONAL STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
The Southern Door Board of Education would like to extend both our gratitude and appreciation to the staff for their dedication and commitment to our students. Staff members are asked to wear many hats and find creative ways to effectively balance their time between academics, counseling, mentoring, coaching, and ensuring that student and staff needs are met.
As a district, we are grateful for the strong, positive, and caring staff who, day in and day out, provide students with an environment where they are encouraged to not only reach their potential, but to exceed it! The educational experiences, and positive influences of our staff members, extend far past the walls of a classroom, and provide students with the skills needed to accomplish their goals and dreams. Working in education is one of the noblest professions, and for those who have chosen Southern Door to call home, we thank you.
(Adopted by the SD BOE, April 22, 2019)
