EYC Newsletter

August Edition

High School EYC will begin on Sunday, August 18 following the 10:30 service. We'll gather in the Parish Hall and walk to our lunch destination from there! Some days we might walk to a local restaurant or if you would like to sponsor a lunch, please reach out or click here! It would be much appreciated!!

Rev. Katie and I are looking for a couple of people to help with AV Streaming on Sundays. During training, we will demonstrate the use of the streaming equipment and encourage high school students to volunteer to stream the 10:30 services on Sundays!

BIBLE STUDY What two words best define your heart? During our weekly EYC gatherings, we'll be talking about Gentle and Lowly (Ortlund, 2020). This book teaches us about Jesus' heart, described as gentle and lowly in Matthew 11. We learn about his grace and mercy towards us, how he treated those around him, and what we can do to become more like him.

HAPPENING #62 is a weekend renewal retreat for all 10th-12th grade students. The weekend is presented by teens for teens. Through videos, skits, talks, and more, Happeners (those attending Happening for the first time) see how God and their faith fit in with the ups and downs of high school life. Happening is designed to help youth feel the love of God and their Christian community. We are so excited to announce that Lucy Stevenson is the Lay Rector for this Happening; she'll be leading the Happening weekend by guiding discussions and creating a safe place for her peers to relax and draw near to God. On Mondays at 6:00 PM in the Undercroft, Middle School EYC will gather together in fellowship! Our first EYC will start next week on August 19 to give everyone time to adjust to school starting back up!

EYC Oftentimes, I find myself knowing a person's name and where they go to school or where they work, but I don't know what they enjoy doing in their free time or what they are most passionate about. For the month of August, we'll spend our time truly getting to know each other, building a community, and creating a sense of belonging. Next month, we'll take what we have learned about each other and use that knowledge to work together as a team to engage in bible story activities.
