Critical Infrastructure Projects to Begin in Early September

Weather permitting, the following critical infrastructure projects are scheduled to begin the week of September 8, following the Labor Day holiday, to improve our community's stormwater drainage systems, roadways, and overall safety.

Utility locating is in progress. Please do not remove any staking or utility markings you may see in the project areas. For detailed maps, traffic management information, and ongoing updates please visit seapinesliving.com/projects. Comments or questions for our Capital Projects Department may be submitted online here.

Beach Wildlife Safety Reminder: Sea Nettle Jellyfish

Common along the South Carolina coast in August and September, this jellyfish is saucer-shaped and 6-8 inches in diameter. They are usually semi-transparent with small white dots and reddish-brown stripes. Sea nettles without stripes have a bell that appears white or opaque. Four oral arms and long marginal tentacles hang from the bell and can extend several feet.

Sea nettle stings are considered moderate to severe. This species causes most of the jellyfish stings that occur in South Carolina waters. Exercise caution if sea nettles are observed in the water, and do not swim if large numbers are present.

Property Appearance Reminders

A few reminders from your Community Standards team:

  • Roofs, gutters, driveways, and other hard surfaces should be cleared of pine straw and vegetative debris often enough that there is no buildup.
  • Mailboxes and posts should be properly labeled and in good repair, and every property needs an approved street number sign that is easy to spot from the road. That number really matters if first responders are ever looking for your driveway. Need a repair, replacement, or nameplate change? Requests may be submitted to our Maintenance Department online here.
  • Exterior lighting, especially on automatic timers, should not stay on for extended periods or after 10:00 PM, and it should never shine into a neighbor's home. Occasionally leaving a light on when someone is heading home late is okay. As a reminder, any changes to exterior light fixtures need ARB approval first.
