FROM THE CHURCH OFFICE

Playing Around!

We are off to a great start with our Grace for Generations Capital Campaign! We are getting close, with the matching gift from the sale of the Wilkes County property, to have the new roof fully funded. So, stepping out in faith, the Council decided to move forward with get on the schedule of our chosen roofing company so that once the weather warms up a bit, they will be ready to get started on this important and necessary project!

Meanwhile, I wanted to take just a few minutes to highlight the fourth project in our series of six projects for the Grace for Generations Campaign. This project will be to finish the updating of our playground. This project began way back in 2017 with a gift from the Stavros estate. With that gift, we were able to put up the metal fence and add a few small pieces to the play area.

Since then, we have long hoped to add a more permanent, larger piece of play equipment. For the past two years, we've had a small team working to develop a plan for finishing these updates to the playground. They worked with a North Carolina playground company to develop a plan to complete this update by adding a new piece of equipment with slides, climbing areas, and other great items for young children. This project will also include adding rubber mulch, which is a safer and long-lasting upgrade. The total cost for the project is a very reasonable $35,000.

One of the things that I love about this proposal is that the equipment will have a Noah’s Ark theme which will match our amazing Nursery! Also, we believe that a small playground area for younger children will fill a gap for our Grace families and also other families in the neighborhood. So, we see this as both a great improvement to our ministry space for children and a great gift to our wider community!

If you haven’t already, please take a moment to give a gift to the campaign or complete a pledge card. Also, mark your calendars for Sunday, April 19th! We will be having lunch after church that day to celebrate the Grace for Generations Campaign!
