Five for Five

September 2026

Five of the Top Stories at Five Counties this month!

From life-altering injury to Paralympic gold,

local wheelchair curler shares his journey

It’s a long way from a Lindsay job site to the gold medal podium in Milan, Italy, but Jon Thurston has made the difficult journey with poise, composure, and courage.

En route, the Dunsford-born-and-bred Paralympic wheelchair curler has inspired others by showing what it is to be confident and resilient in his abilities — even after sustaining a life-altering injury 18 years ago. Jon talked about his story at Five Counties' recent Annual Meeting earlier, while sharing lessons learned about support, adversity and dreaming big!
